Went for a family dinner Saturday Aug 20th 2022. Was gorgeous night for sitting at the patio.
Is the blue anchor under new ownership? I ask because we noticed a big difference in the portions, they seemed to be reduced significantly! Weāve been going to Blue Anchor since 2008, havenāt been since Covid started.
We all left hungry, including my 7year old daughter, who eats like a bird, she finished her kids poutine in no time and was picking the fries from my wifeās plate.
Disappointed that the kids meal doesnāt include a drink and dessert, like every other restaurant. A can of pop costs $3.50 / $4.25 ice tea. Absolutely ridiculous gouging.
My 9yr old son ordered āchicken fingersā should be called āchicken sliversā He asked to substitute Caesar salad instead of fries, that was an extra $3.50
My 19 year old son ordered the beef brisket poutine. It came in such a small bowl that I can only describe it as a āside dishā
My wife and I ordered the large fish and chips. I remember the fish being quite bigger and meatier. I found an image of the fish and chips from 2016 on their Facebook, Iād say they reduced the portion to almost 1/2. Less meat more breading.
I understand due to inflation, menu prices have gone up, but with the portions reduced. It just makes it that much harder to want to bring the family out for a nice meal, only the leave hangry.
Sorry Blue Anchor but we had better fish and chips at Schnitzelās.
Definitely...

Detailed Prices were shaded, menu only had adult meals and nothing else, we weren't told about beverage prices, that Kids menu includes nothing, or the extra charges for side swaps.
My family has been going there for many years. Over the last few years prices have increased and the portions have drastically decreased. We are 3 Adults and 3 Kids, the 7 and 10 year old left hungry and all us 3 adults were still hungry. Canned drinks were 3.5$ each. Kids menu was 8.5$ and didn't include drink or desert. The same Kids menu that couldn't satisfy our 7 year old with a small appetite. I personally got the Brisket Poutine that is 16.5$ (cheapest item on the menu) and I wasn't even close to satisfied. The 2 other adults got the large fish and chip, which is much smaller and more expensive than it used to be, they also left hungry.
The only reason I am rating 2 star and not 1 is because the waitresses are very kind and the food quality is good.
We will not be returning as it is no longer even close to worth going to. Too expensive and too...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was disappointed completely! After standing in line at my choice I was told that 2 tables in an area I requested to be in was being held for 2 groups of 6, I agreed to another table. Within minutes the other 2 tables were filled with a party of 5 and another party of 3. Strike 1. Then we ordered appetizer but had to practically beg for them. Strike 2. Our food was then handed over to us by rude waitresses that literally dropped the plates in front of us roughly and walked off. Strike 3.. the clincher was we never were offered refills or more ice or ANYTHING at all. We saw other customers being served before us, have nicer attitude given and refills constantly. Sadly, we felt it may be a thought that they felt we were not big tippers... SAD SAD mistake we are usually so generous its crazy! I do hope they figure out how to control the fly problem and if you watch them go IN & OUT that door with fresh plates and dirty dishes you will realize its a germ fest on that...
