Just had our wedding there which was beautiful and very affordable and the food was amazing, Charlie and servers were amazing anytime we interacted with them, except we were rushed out of the upstairs at 6 when we specifically stated it would be a little after 7- they were taking all the linens off tables while my guests were still there lol. The owner I realize is probably ran off his feet, however when we informed him we wanted the tables moved during the ceremony well in advance, he said "well that would cost ya extra." everytime we spoke to him We felt like we were inconveniencing him by choosing his venue for our wedding. There were many conversations prior to the wedding where he reneged on what he said - for instance, zi told him my budget was $30 per person all in and he said they definitely could do a great me for that including the venue and said we could have steak or chicken. Then when we called to confirm #'s he said we dont do steak on buffet, I'd never say that and he was more or less implying $30 didnt include gratuities etc. - I am a planner and was writing everything down everytime we spoke. at first I didnt want alcohol there due to me being sober 4.5 years apparently he didnt understand why lol I literally had to explain I was a recovering Alcoholic. Anyways, I wasnt going to stress it nor argue - minor details I thought but who says to someone who is paying for your venue that having a head table up front is stupid? lol yes he said that. We requested 5 tables and head table that seat 8, rehearsal proved that once again he wasnt listening and when we asked if we could have what we requested he argued saying we only asked for 4 and that he didnt have time even after my husband said it's no rush as long as it was done before our wedding the next day. still as there were only Γ²nOne huge thing to me as well was he never made eye contact - ever, nor did he smile. To me in customer service, if my customer was paying I will do anything in my power to help them with their wedding. one huge thing that attracted me was the front porch area for pics which he said was no problem to use. well come photo time we were told we couldn't get to it due to the dining room being locked & closed, couldn't get to it from outside due to snow. At this point one of our groomsman had enough and made it...
Β Β Β Read moreWe were told when we called to not bother with a reservation. We got there and the dining room was half full. It didn't seem too busy, and we asked to be seated. Who I assume is the owner was very short with us, and came off as surprisingly rude. We were more than willing to take a slow dinner and be patient for our main courses.
Our waitress was polite and apologetic as she handed us our menus, apologizing for the brief wait. When we went to order our appetizers, the owner came to take our order. He was very unimpressed with us when we tried to order, telling us how long it will be, how many people are ahead of us, etc. Almost blatantly saying we are just inconveniencing him. After that experience, we decided to leave. We cancelled our order not even a minute after, telling him we would rather go elsewhere. He had us pay for the fountain drinks we just received, and we left after he went on defensively about "What do you expect from me? I got 50 orders right now".
If he was apologetic, I would have no complaints. If he offered to waive the $10 in soda pop as a gesture, I would not complain. We were polite, patient, and just wanted to find a local restaurant to enjoy. None of us have ever been talked to like that in a restaurant, especially by the owner.
My only experience with this restaurant obviously was just the hosting, and I will accurately have to give it the worst grade possible. The building is beautiful, the food might be decent; but I will never give those owners another penny of my business. I read other reviews on other websites talking of the owner's behaviour, and I thought it too ridiculous to be true, but I know now I should have heeded...
Β Β Β Read moreThis restaurant is mediocre at best, the food was cold, and the chocolate milk that I ordered was actually Nesquik, they did not supply extra utensils besides the two spoons, forks and butter knives that were wrapped in a napkin. The fish was very bland and salt didn't really help. The salad was basically all shredded carrots with a garnish of lettuce and cucumber. The dessert was good offering a wide selection of cheesecake, cake, and pies. My favorite item was the shrimp which was somewhat cold. The internet here is ok offering a 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz connection which was pretty slow probably because it is an old building made of stone and wifi doesn't work to well in those conditions. But wifi doesn't really matter as it is a more family oriented restaurant and I appreciate that they added wifi even though the password is in pretty small print on a page on the wall. I was eating off the buffet menu for $23.00 which is pretty pricey as there is not a lot of selection as a whole and the food is flat out bad. I would not recommend coming here and I think the short list of good things about this restaurant could be found at a...
