I was very disappointed to find The Stand closed during what should be peak hours on a busy long weekend. I had planned my trip expecting to get a meal here, and unfortunately, there were no other food options available at the terminal.
Many other travelers were similarly caught off guard, and it was clear that the lack of food service created significant frustration. Given the number of people relying on this ferry route, it’s surprising and disappointing that no provisions were made to ensure food availability during high-traffic times.
I hope BC Ferries and the operators of The Stand can work together to prevent this kind of situation in the future. A simple notice, schedule, or even alternative arrangements would have...
Read moreAccessible from inside the Otter Bay ferry terminal, this mom&pop operation offers up some great home cooked fare from the converted RV-come-restaurant. The prices may seem a bit steep at first (but remember it is an isolated community and everything is ferried over), but the portion size and quality of the food make the price worthwhile -- plus, while you are waiting for the infrequent ferry sailings, 'where else are ya gonna go'?
The owners, even when busy, still take the time to put the customer first, and will even run a last minute order out to a vehicle as it is boarding the ferry! :-)
