Came here because of the great reviews expecting delicious food but was very disappointed. I don't understand all of the praise here. The deepfried mushrooms seemed as though they were canned mushrooms that had been battered. They were extremely watery on the inside and quickly went soggy. $8.99 for mushy mushrooms. The sweet potato fries were ok but the menu boasted about the homemade dipping sauce which didn't compliment the fries at all. It seemed to be a dill (or ranch maybe?) type of sauce while nice chili chipotle or garlic sauce would have tasted better. Then the salad..oh man it was bad. It did not taste fresh at all. I ordered the pickled beet and spinach salad. I recieved a massive plate with a mountain of super sour pickled beets, as if they just dumped a jar on top. Under the pile of beets, there was a bunch of spinach and more than half of it was wilted and slimy. Really slimy. The spinach itself was inedible. The only redeeming quality was the generous amount of goat cheese but that doesn't make up for how bad the rest of it was. They should really consider taking it off the menu or try seriously improving it. Over all the food was pretty bad and I had to get out of bed last night for a couple quick trips to the bathroom that I'm guessing had something to do with the sour slime salad I tried to eat. I'm regretting paying for it and I should have sent it back. $12.99 wasted. I didnt find the prices here to be reasonable at all. All the bad food aside, the service was very friendly and attentive which is why I'm leaving two stars. The restaurant was also very clean. Really disappointing and feel bad leaving this review but I'm being honest in my opinion. The salad was nasty guys. Get rid of it.

The family and I stopped in here after staying in Durham. The food was very tasty. My little ones ate their whole plates, which is rare for them. Our waitress was very nice, helpful and polite. Typical dinner food selection. All day breakfast and kids menu. The side sausage I got was just ok but the steak and eggs were great. The Rubin was also good but could of used a bit more sauerkraut. The food I'd give 7 out 10. Prices I found to be a bit high. Something you'd see at a chain restaurant like Denny's, not a cozy little dinner. Id stop in again as the food and staff where great but they do have some things they canwork on imo.

My friend and I came to The Spot specifically to try their breakfast menu. We ordered hot chocolate with whipped cream to start. We got the steak and dill salad & peameal bacon with two eggs (comes with fries and toast). Ask for the homemade pie, there are so many varieties. If I'm ever in the area, I would definitely come back to eat here.

Update for May 2025 - This place has been a staple in the area - fast, great food, excellent service. Previous review as all 5 stars.

My visit this past Sunday (May 18 2025) was less than awesome. I waited over 20 minutes for someone to take my order, and after that, it was close to 40 minutes for my wrap and fries to arrive. No apology, no asks to top up drinks. It took me a minute or so more to flag her down again, as the fries were undercooked when I'd asked them to be extra crispy. She brought them back quickly enough with a "so there" attitude. They were good, as was the wrap.

Everyone else was nice, but my server that day just wasn't into it. I was there after the breakfast and lunch rushes, so the place was maybe half full if that. No reason for the food to have taken as long as it did.

Maybe it was a fluke, but I hope it's not a trend. I'll go back, but I might think twice before I do.

PS, this same server took another table's plates away before they were done. They had to go up to the counter and ask for their toast back, as they hadn't finished it. They also checked with me to see if my fries were good, as they were very disappointed with...

We were in the area working and quite Hungary. A quick google search gave us this place. I look promising with good reviews. We are both very disappointed. I got the turkey club. It came horribly dry with no condiments on it? After I got it no one was around to ask for some mayo or butter ect? Luckly I got gravy so I was able to dip it in that. My partner got the Friday special of pealmeal sandwich and soup. Now the soup was good. But that’s it. Again nothing on that sandwich. Just toast and meat, he said it was vary boaring and dry as well. Place was clean and the one older lady behind the bar/cash was very friendly. Our server wasn’t! Would we go back? No! With so many other options to try we would have to give...
