How much I love this place is hard to put into words. Have you ever been full and want to get an entire other order just because it was that good. This simple little store front with next to no sitting is the definition of a hidden gem. I’ve had nearly everything on the menu and am finding myself there every 3 or 4 days. The Carntias and the beef barbacoa have slow cooked meat that gives that certain mouth feel. It’s real meat properly slow cooked there, not in a factory or bought pre frozen. It’s soft and falls apart with spiced cooking juices inside your mouth. The chorizo has a nice spice, soft with some flat top char running through the taco that makes it interesting to experience. I recommend a bowl of the birramen, although I prefer it without the noodles. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted in a beef soup. The staff have brought a bit of Mexico to little old St. Catharines and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I cannot praise this place enough. Do yourself a favour and get over there a soon as possible. You’ll thank yourself. No go and get...
Read moreThis place is well reviewed and I was excited to visit. The food was reasonably good and fairly accurate to what a street taco should taste like, but they were sold out of the first two tacos I wanted to order. The service was unremarkable, not good or bad. The staff were not very helpful, but they were responsive. The place was very hot and humid, it was uncomfortably warm inside. They have a small seating area where you can sit on bar height chairs at a bar height L-shaped table with seating for maybe six people. Would recommend taking your food to go, which seems to be the intent. They have a good selection of sodas if you like that. The price per person was about $5-$8/taco purchased in a trio, so around $15-$20 per person. I’d give it another try but I’d also readily...
Read moreBy leaps and bounds the best tacos in St. Catharines. You kinda just ask for the meat tacos you want, you just accept whatever sauce comes with it, divide the sauce completely on all the tacos (some sauces are spicier than others, maybe test the sauce first if you can’t handle spice), use the limes, and enjoy the symphony of flavours in your mouth. Incredible is too light of a word to use for how I feel about the al pastor tacos. I’ve had basically everything on the menu, and there are 0 bad choices. These are the kind of tacos you gotta eat with your eyes closed because it’s so dang good. 10/10,...
