Amélia's Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in St. John's

Where do I even start. I was placed in a lounge chair to wait for an available table. After about 10 mins the waitress took my order (burger and poutine) despite me not having a table yet, which I was fine with. After about 20 mins a table opened up and I moved. At this point my drink was long gone and noone had asked if I wanted another. About 20 mins after seating at the table she finally came by and asked if I wanted another drink. Another 20 mins passed by and I decided to go to the bar and ask if they had an ETA on my food to which I never got an actual answer. Another 15 mins passed by and I went up again to see if they had even started cooking it yet as I was going to pay for my drinks and leave. She said she was going to check and came back several mins later and said it was just put on and would be ready in 10 to 15 mins. So around 1.5 hours after placing my order they only just started to cook it. 2 hours after placing my order I finally got my food. Once I was done eating it took almost another 20 mins for someone to finally come and let me pay my bill. The burger was pretty good but I can say with absolute certainty this was my first and last time eating here. DO NOT go here unless you have HOURS to lose. The waitresses were very polite but that does not make up for how avoidant they were steering clear of peoples tables knowing full well everyone had the same question: Where's my food? There was an extremely drunk guy there going all around the place that they kept serving more liquor to. He was sitting at peoples tables and at the end of it even started cleaning up tables trying to hurry things along as he had been waiting even longer than myself for his food. As for compensation for the extremely long wait and having to put up with this drunkard repeatedly sitting at my table they took a meager $4.80 off my bill. By far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. As I said I will NEVER go back...

Stayed at the hotel last night, decided to have breakfast at Amelia’s rather than going out. Stood at the “wait to be seated” sign for a while before being seated, should have been our first clue. Waited for a waitress to take our order for about 10 minutes. 5-top, three coffees, a water, and a chocolate milk for my son. Breakfast orders were 4 orders of scrambled eggs and one omelette. All placed at the same time. Drinks? 10 minutes plus. Time from order to get the food? 42 minutes from when we were seated. My omelette was supposed to come with home fries and at $14 I’d normally be making sure I got everything I was supposed to but I didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes so I just let it slide. We watched one poor lady wait 12 minutes just to get her check so she could pay and leave. Ended up taking my wife and son’s meals to go as they left and went back to the room after the first 30 minutes of waiting was a little bit much for an 8 year old. The only reason I give two stars instead of one was the bacon portions...

We had a 5-star experience here today. Our server Jordan was very professional and friendly. He mentioned that he was new in the profession (serving) but we could tell he was trying hard and he did a great job by offering us a personal experience while dining. Our food was also excellent. We had the wings special and they were good. Their onion rings were the best we've had in a long time. We asked Jordan to let the kitchen know that they were awesome. Great job here.
