Black Cat Pizzeria is a cozy little spot with a lot of charm. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere inside is fantastic—warm, inviting, and with a really cute dining area that makes for a great place to sit and enjoy a meal. The entire space, from the lobby to the dining area, is spotless and well-maintained, which adds to the overall experience.

That being said, one of the biggest downsides is the parking situation. If you’re hoping to just pop in and grab a pizza, good luck. There’s virtually no parking nearby, and the few spots right in front of the building are almost always taken. It’s a huge deterrent for anyone not willing to walk a fair distance or circle around for a spot.

As for the pizza itself, it’s undeniably delicious. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and everything is fresh. However, their claim to fame—the sourdough crust—didn’t really stand out as anything special. While the crust was tasty, it didn’t have that distinct sourdough tang and just tasted like a good, standard pizza crust. Overall, the pizza was great but felt like it was missing that little extra something to push it over the top. Maybe a touch more salt in the dough or just a bit more seasoning in general.

All in all, Black Cat Pizzeria is a solid 4/5. Great vibes, great service, and great pizza, but the lack of parking and the slightly underwhelming crust keep it from being a perfect experience. If you're willing to deal with the parking headache, it’s definitely worth a visit!

EDIT

I originally left a fair and positive 4-star review, highlighting the great atmosphere, friendly staff, and high-quality ingredients while mentioning two minor drawbacks: the difficult parking situation and the fact that the sourdough crust didn’t have a distinct sourdough flavor. Pretty reasonable feedback, right? Well, the owner’s response was… something else.

Rather than simply thanking me for my review and addressing my points professionally, they went into full defensive mode, writing a long-winded explanation for everything I said—almost as if they were trying to debate my personal experience rather than take constructive feedback.

On parking, instead of acknowledging it as a challenge, they listed off a bunch of “hidden” parking spots and claimed that regulars have no problem finding spaces. That’s great for regulars, but if parking is that much of an issue that they’ve already gone to the city about it, then clearly I wasn’t wrong to mention it.

Then there was the response about the sourdough crust. Rather than just saying, “Hey, we aim for a milder profile,” they launched into an entire fermentation science lesson about wild yeast and acidity. Interesting? Sure. But none of that changes the fact that the crust tasted like regular pizza dough to me. If most customers don’t pick up on the sourdough flavor, maybe it’s just not that noticeable.

And the salt comment? Instead of considering that maybe the seasoning could be adjusted, they went on a tangent about how modern society is addicted to hyper-processed food and implied that I just don’t appreciate high-quality ingredients. That’s… quite a response to what was meant as a simple suggestion.

The best part? They actually admitted that the cheese on my pizza needed another 30 seconds in the oven—based on my photo. So, in a way, they confirmed that my critique wasn’t entirely off.

I still think this is a solid spot with great pizza, but I have to say, the way the owner responded to honest, mild criticism was kind of crazy. If you leave anything other than a perfect 5-star review, be prepared for a lengthy, defensive reply explaining why you’re wrong.

The staff here are amazing! The 2 star for service is for the owners uncalled...

Our family absolutely loves Black Cat! It’s by far the best pizza I’ve ever had. You can tell there is such care put into each pizza- it shows in the incredible taste and presentation. Beyond the pizza itself, the service is so wonderful. Everyone is kind and cheerful but I had an especially impressive experience. On the last night they were open at the other location I made sure to get my pre-order in. I live super close by (nearly across the street) and felt silly asking for delivery but added a note to my order that I had to do delivery because I was a new mom of twins who were sleeping. When my delivery arrived, they included a second, frozen pizza for free. It was the Cat’s favorite. The box came with a container of ricotta, honey and the red sauce. They included a sweet note and cooking instructions. I was so taken aback by the gesture. It really brightened my day.

So keep it up Black Cat. We’re so happy to have you in the...

I'm a big foodie and I salivate just thinking about the pizza at Black Cat Pizzeria! I love how every pizza is made fresh to order. You can literally taste the thought and care that goes into making each of the pizzas.

For anyone commenting about the price, sure it's more than what you'd pay for at Domino's but this isn't Domino's! You're getting a premium product at Black Cat. The ingredients are super fresh and high quality. Plus, the pizzas are very filling. One pizza will be two meals for me. Which works out to be way more bang for your buck than just getting one sandwich at Subway these days.

I save my trips to Black Cat when I really want to treat myself and it's so worth it! I even bring a thermal bag with me so that the food is still super warm by the time I get home so I can make sure I'm enjoying the pizza as intended.

The staff are also always so kind and friendly! Which just makes the experience even better.

Thanks,...

I ordered a takeout from Black Cat’s Pizza - the Cat’s Favourite! In the ten or so quick minutes I had to wait for my order - I had some time to look around. The decor is themed around the black cat in so many cute and fascinating pieces of art - including a full wall painting in a fantasy setting! The seating is pretty plain, but the chairs are clothed in little knit tops which look pretty. I feel they've made a pretty good use of their space. Spend some time here, and the cat gets you. I think kids will absolutely love this place! Speaking of the cat getting you - cat’s favourite pizza with honey and ricotta (among other things) on an ultra-thick and oozing (deep dish) pizza crust with crispy edges was the best thing I’ve ever had in a while. Apart from this, the place was clean and well-kept and staffed by two folks in the afternoon while it wasn't that busy. Will surely be going back and update my review later.

OMG!!! We picked this place for pizza night out (father & son) and believe me, we will be back!! I'm definitely running the gauntlet on the menu at this place!! We had the "The One with Bacon" and the "Chicken Bacon Ranch". The sourdough crust, with the crispy edges was delicious... and the pizza sauce is the beat pizza sauce we've ever had... hands down!!! We ate in and the owner came out to see how we were enjoying the meal, which was a nice touch! If you are a lover of pizza and you haven't tried this place yet, your robbing yourself of happiness!! 😀 Well done folks, we will be back soon!!
