=============NEWEST REVIEW - 21-August-2025===========
I don't know if they got new cooks or if they're changing the oil more or they're just being more mindful when cooking it, but the food tasted way better the last 2 times i had it than just about any other time I've had it before. The only negative thing I have to say about Ches's Fish & Chips is that they leave too much potato peel on the french fries (which I hate - ever since it became well known that about 80% of the nutrients in a potato is in the peel, they leave most of it on just about everywhere. The only place I can think of the removes all the peel off their fries is McDonald's. But I digress...). As of the last 2 times I've had it (a small Chips, Dressing and Gravy [will just call it CDG from now on] at a little of $12 [tax included but not including tip] and the Wednesday Special for an awesome price, 2 pieces of fish & chips for $12.99+Tax - which is an awesome deal and it was really, really good. I got the Loyalty Card all fixed up too. Overall, the food has gotten at least 1 star better than the last 2 times I had it, and I'd probably even rate it higher than that! Don't miss out! Lately the food is the best it's ever been and right now they have some really good deals! They also have some lunchtime deals that are really good but they are only in effect from 12p-2p. If you like cod tongues, they also have a deal on that, as well. OH, THIS IS ONLY FOR THE RESTERAUNT ON TOPSAIL ROAD (Across the road from Dollarama and Tim Hortons or right next to the Micheal Donovan Library, I can't comment on the other ones but if it's the same as I had it several months ago, it's not that great). A personal tip from me, if ur getting CDG, get the DG on the side as I don't think they put a whole lot on the fries for take out cuz it'll soften the plate. What I do is put 2 packs of salt on the fries, then 1-2 packs of vinegar, then I add the dressing, then I pour the gravy on top and mix it up (get an extra plate to put the fish on if u don't want dressing or gravy on the fish). Once again, I wanna stress that it's the TOPSAIL ROAD Ches's Fish & Chips that I'm talking about!
ORIGINAL REVIEW=================== This place used to be very expensive, but now, since inflation, the prices are about average now. So far I've only ordered a chips dressing and gravy and is very good. The only negative thing about it is that they're supposed to be a loyalty act but it doesn't work at the...
Read moreThe food was good but the service was awful. I sat myself at a table after not being shown anywhere. Then it took 15 minutes to be noticed as the servers were dealing with the desk and take out orders. It didn't take long to get the food but I was not given cutlery, so the waitress said she'd go get some. Another 5 minutes and I had to catch her eye to remind her. Then she brought me a fork. I never did receive a knife. Not a classy place, even the people next to me were talking loudly about eye surgery. Awful experience. I'd recommend...
