Denny's Restaurant — Restaurant in St. John's

My girlfriend and I went to Denny’s for the first time today and were absolutely blown away by how amazing the service was. We had both ordered meals and were waiting for some time (completely understandable because they were extremely busy) when our male waiter, who’s name we didn’t catch let us know it would be around 5 minutes for our orders to be up. 5 or so minutes passed and the manager, Charlotte let us know that our orders were accidentally given to another table (once again completely understandable as they were crazy busy) She apologized profusely and offered us a bowl of fruit or soups on the house, we took the fruit and were very pleased. She let us know it would only be about 5-10 minutes on our order because she had put a rush on it. 8 minutes had passed and our waiter approached us asking how our fruit was and if we wanted a salad, soup, or some milkshakes all on the house! We said that we would share a milkshake and were blown away at this point. How sweet!!! About 2 minutes later we got our food which was absolutes delicious (Highly recommend the pancakes) Once we finished our food our waiter came back again to collect the plates and let us know that he requested we have our order comped and we were shocked once again. Charlotte came to let us know that our food was on the house and apologized to us again. We are insanely pleased by our first visit and will definitely be there again very soon. Had a horrible experience here for my birthday and instead of writing a public review I decided I would reach out to them directly. That was 3 weeks ago today. Nobody ever got back to me, so I will post it here now seeing I gave them an opportunity to rectify the situation and they chose to just ignore my email completely.

Restaurant was freezing, they had A/C on in the restaurant in February. It was absolutely freezing. I left my winter coat on. There were two other tables seated when we came in waiting for their food. After being seated we waited 17 mins for someone to come take our drink order. Another 10 mins before they actually brought the drinks to us. I have no idea what was going on but the waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time. When our food finally came. Everything was freezing cold. My boyfriend's toast was not toasted, it was buttered untoasted bread. The hashbrowns looked like they had been thawed out and thrown on the plate, judging by the all white appearance there's no way they saw the inside of a frying pan, the sausages were under cooked and everything was freezing. Not even room temp. I have no idea why or how they could think it was ok to serve that. My.maf and cheese and chicken fried steak was so salty I couldn't eat it and absolutely freezing as well. The portions were tiny for what we paid, not that I ate it anyways. I have no idea how they managed to put so much salt on everything....

Just had a phenomenal experience at the Denny's location here in St. John's. First time going to the Denny's here on the island. We entered and were greeted by an enthusiastic and energetic hostess named Kelsey. She was thorough with giving us our touch free menu options as well as guidelines to how to properly follow distancing with the arrows. As well as offering to take our names which we obviously provided as our part of society for contact tracing. She was upbeat, personable and made us feel welcome. We then met our server Lisa who was an absolute star. Upon further instruction of additional menu items/menu she was patient with our ordering. Provided a menu of which my wife was delighted to see the eggs benny's! I on the other hand came to 2 options and in amazing style asked me a few questions to make sure I knew what was going to be the right choice for me. That comes with experience and made me tickled pink. Thank you Lisa! The food was an easy 9.5 out of 10. Knew what to expect going in and got exactly what I was expecting. Patient, Fast and Friendly staff, delicious food and great location. Thank you for feeding the beast! Be back again with the kids...
