The café has a charming aesthetic online, which initially drew me in. However, the in-person experience didn’t fully match those expectations. The interior felt a bit underwhelming and could benefit from some thoughtful updates to align with its online presentation, it gave more “Barbie movie set from Dollarama” than the chic, cozy vibe I was hoping for.
The food and coffee were decent, though quite overpriced for the quality. Our breakfast was served promptly, but the tea arrived about 10 minutes later, after we had already finished eating. It was just a teabag in a cup of hot water, and when we asked for milk and sugar, the cup was taken back in the “kitchen”to add milk and sugar in it (now that I am thinking about it, the preference of milk and sugar in tea wasn’t even asked before purchase) which felt a bit unrefined. I am surprised that for a nice aesthetic “dine-in” which they claim to be, they didn’t even have decent dinnerware. They used cheap plastic takeout cups for teas and mismatched dollarama plates.
I don’t want to discourage local businesses and I truly appreciate small ventures trying to create something special here in Newfoundland. But as a young adult, I really value good quality food at a reasonable price and an inviting, well-thought-out atmosphere. If both aren’t present, it does take away from the experience and defeats the whole purpose of a “café outing”.
The owners were very kind and welcoming, which I genuinely appreciated. However, I noticed they tend to respond to reviews defensively, which could make it harder for them to benefit from constructive feedback.
I wouldn’t make a special trip back, but I might stop by again if I happened to be in the area. With a few thoughtful changes, this café could really...
Read moreAt first glance, this café looks inviting from the outside, but the interior could use some improvement, both in design and atmosphere. There was also a noticeable musty smell, which affected the overall experience.
When I asked for water, I was given tap water, which was a bit concerning considering the area’s plumbing quality. The service could also be improved—the cashier seemed distracted, often talking on the phone, and was very eager for me to leave a Google review. It would be great to see more focus on customer engagement and professionalism.
As for the food, while I appreciate the effort, $15 for a croissant with a basic chicken patty felt a bit steep. I also noticed that a few potential customers walked in but left without ordering, possibly because no one was available at the counter.
I truly believe this café has potential, and with some refinements in service, management, and overall presentation, it could become a great spot. I hope the owner takes customer feedback into account and makes the necessary...
Read moreI finally visited the most beautiful café in St. John’s after hearing so much about it, and it did not disappoint! The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by the delicious aroma of freshly baked goods—I’m pretty sure they bake everything in-house. The space is stunning, the cashier was so friendly, and the food was absolutely amazing. Their pastries are unlike anything else in town! I also tried their hot chocolate, and it was rich and velvety, made with high-quality French chocolate. They just opened, but I can already tell they’re going to do really well. This is definitely my new go-to spot, especially since I work downtown....
