Kung Fu Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in St. John's

The food was made fresh. It had flavor and a great size portion. The bathroom was single room facilities (male and female) that was clean, stocked and had room if you have disability or with small children. The decor was cute, clean and charming. Something I've noticed since moving to NL is many restaurants lack attention to detail of decor and charm. This place was like a blast from the past for me and it brightens my day.

The service was excellent and I could not believe the level of covert racism or microaggression and even outright racism the international workers have to put up with from ignorant and abusive locals.

The restaurant was clean when I attended, smelled fresh air wise and then with the scent of food as served to you at the table. The amount of skip the dishes and such delivery drivers was amazing to see because most of the time, they were the most polite to all the staff.

I just don't understand why someone who does not like international people or international food have the audacity to go into a business such as this to cause a fuss to flex their settler Eurocentrism muscles to bully the staff because "customer is always right". Get a life and let people work and let customers eat in peace. They just want to be centre of attention because their world is so small, full of haste and jealousy.

It's disgusting and disrespectful. The atmosphere was beautiful, quiet clean and safe until the rift rafts come in to prove a point to themselves because the rest of society does not care.

I feel very sad for the abuse the staff face but I commend them in the face of adversity to continue to keep up with orders, being polite, humble and as efficient as possible.

I was very impressed by the team work, the patience and collaboration between staff to address these jerks.

The food was enough to be two servings/ enough to comfortably share. Me and my daughter ordered two different items and split it. It was a humbling experience and catering to the local taste bud. It was not spicy at all and for my taste, it was rather bland. Next time I will ask to personally make it the traditional spicy.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT UNLESS YOU WANT RUDE SERVICE AND FOOD DROWNING IN OIL.

I never write reviews, but this place was so bad it forced me to. I went with a friend for lunch. She ordered a combination and asked for it spicy. They flat-out told her no. I ordered Kung Pao chicken and asked for it be spicy too. They said yes to me, but when the food arrived, it had zero spice, zero effort, just bland and salty. When I mentioned it to the woman working there, she shrugged and basically said, “it is what it is” before walking away. No offer to fix it, no hot sauce, nothing.

The food itself? Awful. Completely soaked in oil to the point where you feel sick looking at it. Not flavorful, just greasy and salty.

When I asked for two containers to take some food home, they gave me paper boxes. Fine for noodles, but my chicken was sitting in so much oil it would have leaked everywhere. I asked for a different container and was told it would cost extra. An extra charge to properly pack their own oily food? Ridiculous. I had two bites of the chicken and couldn’t eat more. I wanted to take it home to doctor it up with spices, but I couldn’t even do that because of their refusal to provide a decent container.

As Chinese food goes, our meal was ok. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. Sadly for me, the problem with this restaurant is that they were seriously understaffed or poorly organized. Upon arriving for a pickup, there were 10 people waiting ahead of me. Many were delivery people.

I had placed an order 2 hour before to be picked up at a specific time. Upon arriving at the planned time, I had to wait 15 minutes before being served only to find that my order was laying on a large table with other orders that had been placed but had not even been sent to the kitchen. I had to wait another 15 min to have it cooked. If I hadn’t prepaid, I would have left.
