WAY better than the guy next door! First time I had Leo's - am from out of town. The food was incredible - the fish was like butter, the batter was perfect. It was crisp on the outside and had a little chew to it. I had the 2 piece with a "few" fries...even for a few...it was a LOT! My aunt had the same but with a "lot" of fires...way too many fires...lol. The gravy was typical restaurant gravy, but with a home-style light color to it...we liked it, and it was a full cup - served in a coffee cup. Will go back again now every time I go to St. John's if I want fish and chips. The tarter sauce....well, that could use some work. They had those little packages - not so great. It's easy to make...just sayin. Oh - be forewarned - the place is a dive, literally almost walked out when we saw the inside...but glad we didn't the food was excellent, wait time was about average for food - about 30 minutes and others were there before us. And the onion rings were awesome too! Server...took a bit for her to warm up, but then she came around...standoffish, but friendly... It's an experience that's for sure...and worth a trip...

One word describes this place… OUTSTANDING! If you’re from out of town, and searching for the BEST fish and chips, Leo’s is the place to be. Been in St.John’s for a week, so I’ve tried fish and chips elsewhere of coarse, no one beats Leo’s, had to come back several times to eat, only because I know it would be a while before having their fish and chips again. Literally a Momma and son spot, mom the owner serving you like you’ve know her your whole life and son cooking away. It’s a corner restaurant you’d think twice about walking into, don’t make the mistake, walk in and enjoy their fresh fish, absolutely friendly service and, not that it matters, best prices for the amount of food they offer. You will not regret it, a must try. ENJOY! The fish and chip picture I posted is a half portion I shared with my wife, so you...

Leo's Fish & Chips is our go to fish & chips place whenever we visit St. John's. The wall of fame with pictures of many celebrities is an indication of its popularity! I have frequented this amazing restaurant atleast 5 times because the love of the fish and fresh cut fries. The fish is brought in fresh daily and is always tasty and delicious. The staff are always friendly and very respectful. This little restaurant is a local icon and a must stop during our visits to the Rock! Definitely the best fresh fish on the East coast anywhere and it would give Red Fish Blue Fish a challenge in Victoria as it’s by far the best fish on the West...

I ordered through Skip, and the driver was a little behind, and a Leo's employee actually called to explain the delay to me. Also, I was impressed bc they prepare their orders to coordinate with the driver, so that food is delivered as fresh as possible. The food was so delicious, I ate every bit, and it is not often I would even eat all the fries. The fish was flaky, the batter crispy; my cat may have been jealous. I would definitely order from here again, and I do recommend them. The two piece was really only $10 plus tax. Soretty inexpensive indeed.

Since it’s in Newfoundland and I have been to other fish places I have to give it a 3-star. If this restaurant is in Toronto I’ll give it a 4. I went to Ches’s next door and it’s a solid 5. The waiting time is very very long although there aren’t many customers. Food is semi burnt. The fish is soggy. Batter is also soggy. Staff not pleasant. Fries are so-so. Gravy has a burnt taste, it’s thick but it’s tasteless. Fish (cod) is good but the soggy batter ruins it. My suggestion is to go to Ches’s next door instead. Ches’s is cheaper too.
