The food is fine, if you like Mary Browns you know what you’re getting, and I’ve always enjoyed it. My problem with this place is the truly awful staff. I have gone in just for take-out a couple of different times and there always seems to be an issue. First off the staff are usually pretty bad. They will all see you standing there waiting to order and will ignore you for more than just a few minutes, I think their goal is that you actually leave so they won’t have to serve you, which I have on more than one occasion here after having to wait over five minutes while the staff just looks at you occasionally while continuing to ignore you, great business strategy. When they do eventually serve you they are often saucy and barely pay attention to you. I have seen them punch in my order wrong on the computer many times and every time I have corrected them they act as though it’s your fault they got it wrong. Once after receiving my order I noticed my large gravy was missing when I got back to the car so I went back in to have it fixed they basically accused me of lying and leaving the gravy in the car before begrudgingly giving in and giving me what I ordered or “replaced it” as they said, they must of felt like they got the last laugh though as the large gravy was only half filled. That was the last time I went there and will be the last time I will go there. I may enjoy my Mary Browns but the “better than you atmosphere” of Mary’s Diner they can keep. I’ll just drive less than five minutes down the road the The Elizabeth Ave Mary Browns where you are served quickly treated...
Read moreThe atmosphere at this particular restaurant is sight to behold. My oldest son fell in love with the jukebox. The staff were friendly, but not nearly as attentive as they should have been. We were there for breakfast, my youngest son and I shared the Benny and the eggs breakfast skillet while my dest son had the French toast. The skillet consisted of tater hash browns, which were good on their own, bacon, eggs, and hollandaise sauce. Unfortunately, there was far too much sauce and it masked the flavour of everything. The French toast was good but may have been a little over cooked. I also ordered a side of toutons, which were the star of the meal. I also ordered tea, which came with free refills, however it came out barely hot, and I had to wait quite a while before my waitress came by to get a refill. The total cost of the meal came to over $35.00 which I thought was a little pricey for the portion sizes we received. In summary as much as I enjoy their regular menu their breakfast is mediocre...
Read morePoutine was tasty but the taters weren't as fresh as when I usually get them from other locations. The gravy was excellent though and so was the coleslaw. The service was good. Price was average. Menu had appealing choices and included an all day breakfast menu. I would not recommend to those in a wheelchair, most vegetarians and definitely not to vegans.
The style of the diner was old fashioned (think 1950s/1960s) and had a jukebox. To be honest, it kind of made no sense to me because Mary Browns was invented in 1969 and jukeboxes were unpopular in the 70s. The restaurant played classic rock overhead. The restaurant appeared spacious, organized and clean, except for the table we were seated at which didn't seem washed down well and had rolled up paper from the straws on the...
