Monroe Take Out — Restaurant in St. John's

BY FAR the WORST restaurant I’ve tried in my life. I’m shocked and I have no words to describe what I’ve tasted. I’ve travelled to over 40 countries including China & Hong Kong, and I’ve never tasted anything as bad as this. It’s an insult to the Chinese culture. I tried the sweet chicken, the fish n’ chips, the hamburger, and one Asian dish. The sweet chicken and the fish n’ chips were extremely oily with no seasoning. The hamburger tasted like chowmein, and the meat was questionable. I had hope for the Asian dish, but it was horrible. So I don’t understand the good reviews. They are either fake or they come from people who have not tried a lot of different food in their life. I always joke around about this place because it’s literally the worst thing I’ve tried in my life, and in any larger city this place would’ve...

I was ripped off $17. When I called to talk to them, a younger male took the call. He told me the Facebook profile that I got the prices from was not made by them; it was a fake Facebook account. I asked why would someone make a Facebook account with their business name, their full menu, and prices... He told me there are weird people out there who make fake accounts. When I added the items up individually and then the tax and STILL came out with a different number than him, he told me it was because I did not add the items up in the same way he did (which was to add each individual item + tax and then together). He was saucy, ignorant, and never offered to correct the situation in any way. This was the poorest customer service I have ever had. I used to order delivery years ago just about every weekend. I remember one time I called to place an order, the lady (owner maybe?) just said "ok" and hung up the phone lol She knew my voice and order. I would get the cheeseburger (add bacon) platter every damn time. Two burgers, fries, tartar sauce and a Pepsi. It would come to like $22. Good times. I'm gonna order next weekend for old times sake. I didn't rate atmosphere because I've never stepped foot in there.

PS: She wasn't rude for hanging up the phone. I found it hilarious because I knew exactly what had happened. To me, that was some damn good customer service. Shoutout to the Monroe's lady who used to take my order over the phone. You're...
