New City Restaurant — Restaurant in St. John's

Ordered vegetarian noodles and spring rolls, among other things. Drove across town to get it and once home, realized that they had given us two beef noodles instead. Called to complain and was told to “pick the meat out”. The meat is ground up into it. How exactly am I supposed to pick it out ?? As well, once I bit into my spring roll, quickly realized that that also had beef in it ?? Spring rolls are meant to be vegan. I don’t understand. What’s the point of even having a spring roll option if it’s the exact same as your egg rolls ?? I have worked in food service for over ten years, and if you mess up someone’s order, you correct it and/or offer a refund. ESPECIALLY when it comes to dietary and allergy restrictions. The refusal to give me a refund for food I cannot even eat is absolutely ridiculous. Customer service here needs...

Was visiting local friends who knew the Chinese couple who ran the restaurant. The portions were really large for a very reasonable price - we had a party of 6 adults and we ordered the combo dinner for 5 people and the portions were so large we only finished half of the food. The chow mein was good and the deep fried wonton skin was nice and freshly done. The broccoli and beef was delicious - flavorful and had enough "wok hey" (hahaha I dunno how to explain this in English other than to say it was flavourful). We learned that the couple wants to sell the restaurant to a good, hardworking, future generation trying to start their own restaurant business. We hope they find...

I love this place. Here, it is all about great Chinese food, ample portions and good prices. Yes, the dining room is pretty awful, but to me that's irrelevant. This small family owned restaurant offers infinitely better Asian food than any local buffet and you don't need to file for bankruptcy after. They are very friendly and kind, offering service with a smile. And dealing with Covid-19, they've stayed open and have a funny little toy truck to send food to you at the end of the counter. I love this intelligent distancing and good humour! Wonderful place and I can't say enough positive about every experience I've had here...
