New Moon Restaurant — Restaurant in St. John's

The food is the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my entire life. The service I try to talk to the lady twice and when I had a complaint I got hung up on twice the atmosphere. I don't know. I wasn't there. It is horrible there. Chow mein is all liquid like a soup The chicken is a soggy mess. They're chicken Balls are hard. I am extremely worried about getting food poisoning. I've never had food this bad. They put the sauce on top of the chicken balls. Made them nice and soggy. The only thing that's okay is the broccoli, but even then a pool of sauce. The beef is the lowest grade I've ever had. We ordered from Uber eats. The driver was absolutely amazing. Got here on time. He was sweet, the restaurant and the employee that I talked to not good at all. I went to hundreds of Chinese restaurants from the states to Ontario from Nova Scotia to other parts of Newfoundland and New Brunswick and this is the worst one I ever had. Disappointed. More expensive than other places, yet not as tasty.

Lemon chicken, while good chicken meat and batter, was really lacking in lemon flavour.

Sweet and Sour chicken, again, good chicken and batter, but the sauce was bland.

Chicken fried rice was fine, fairly dry, contained some chicken, but no green onion or any vegetable component in the rice which seems pretty standard elsewhere.

Beef and broccoli was watery, salty, and lacking flavour as well. No other vegetables in this dish either, typically there are onions and other items in the dish elsewhere.

Crispy wontons were okay, but not having a decent sweet and sour sauce for dipping didn't help.

Gets two stars because staff was friendly, and overall it was edible, just not enjoyable.

Also: I cannot confirm that there was, but I believe there must have been some kind of cross contamination with shrimp in our order.. I have a mild allergy to them and my usual symptoms from shrimp exposure have been kicking up ever since we ate...

Worst buffet EVER. My family used to love new moon when I was young it was the only Chinese food we ate. But sadly it is not even close to what it once was. Went there for a birthday ordered 4 buffets and the food was not even CLOSE to acceptable. Half the bins were empty and the ones that were there was hard as a rock. We informed the waiter that there wasn’t even CHICKEN BALLS they said they would refill but the people who ordered from the menu were almost done there food before it was refilled! When we informed the waiter that we would NOT be paying for the buffets (because literally no one ate a thing) they excuse was that they were sorry as it’s hard when they aren’t busy to continue refilling the bins because it’s wasteful and that they would only offer ONE free buffet. For one, I don’t care how dead you are if your serving buffet the food has to be EDIBLE, we are paying customers!! Not acceptable what so ever and we will NEVER...
