I’ve ruined myself by going to Persepolis Persian Restaurant. You know when you’ve had a meal that is THAT good, that it ranks in your Top Meals of Life? I’ve had some fantaaaaastico meals, in amazing places such as Via Quirinale in downtown Rome, the most fantastic pizza down a dingy side street in Napoli Italy, amazing piri piri and curries and vindaloos in Northern India, and literally more food choices than hours in the food stalls in J’maa El’fnaa in Marrakesh. Let’s say I’ve seen some places and eaten some food 😄😍😄😍 in the countries I’ve had the fortune to visit. So woe is me! What is this?! A local St. John’s restaurant that EASILY slides into one of my TOP 5, well, TOP 3, and should I even give it my Top Dining experience ever? I mean everything is subjective - but this foodie experience was AAA-MAZING. Please, if you like food, rice, chicken, vegetarian, beef, lamb, really, you MUST do yourself the “you deserve this” and get some food from Persepolis Persian Restaurant. I wanted to hop on a plane to Tehran after I left the joint. The lively music, the beautifully draped fabric and symbols of Iranian and Persian life. Wow. It’s too late to get more today, but I’m going to have to feed the beast tomorrow, because I can still smell the smoked aubergine/eggplant, that perfectly cooked saffron rice, the pistachios and the salads of garlic and yogurt borani esfanaj! Oh and definitely try the saffron, basil seed, and lemon drink - incredibly refreshing! (My only non-glowing comment, it was cold in there, but the food was so incredible…we managed 😄 troopers that we are 🤪)

Here is my review for the first Persian restaurant in NL. Starting with FAQs first, yes, I definitely recommend this place, and will be back soon. The staff was great and warm welcoming. The decoration was reminding the theme of central cities of Iran, especially the desert areas. About the food, I’m a Persian and for me, the taste and flavours were so close to the traditional foods, but a little bit milder, compared to the strong native tastes. Very delicious and we enjoyed. We recommend Chenjeh kebab, the Saffron drink and Mirza Qasemi for sure. The photo added here is from the take out menu, which is including a family section that is more affordable for having Persian kebabs. The dine-in menu doesn’t include the family section, but has more traditional options in all parts. The price is fine regarding the ingredients, especially Saffron which was used in almost everything we had there 👌👌👌 The portions were more than expected, the rice portion is usually a lot in Persian foods, and this one was well-cooked with the especial oil shipped from Iran, and again designed with Saffron 🤌🏻 (We asked from the staff and found many basic essential ingredients and decoration items were shipped from Iran, which are making this place special) (Hint: Generally, Persian kebabs are not for everyday orders, nowhere in our planet 😅, because of the preparation process and the flavours and sides, most of the portions are high in terms of calories, also cost more than other common foods.)

This was a special treat for me. My date had brought me here to try some dishes and foods from her home country. It was fantastic. All recipes are handed down from grandmother to mother to daughter. And she is running the place right. From seeing the beautiful sign out front I knew this was going to be a great place. Since I’m not familiar with food from this region so my date picked her favourites to share with me. First off portions are really big, I had enough for a second meal pretty much. We had the Koobideh Kebab, a nice ground lamb with a flavourful spice to it. Not hot spicy but a nice spice. I enjoyed this a lot. The saffron rice with berries on top was amazing. A light but noticeable saffron taste with the sweetness of berries. We also had the chicken. It was chicken wings with a nice blackened seared crisp to them. The flavour was amazing. I don’t know what spices were used. But the chef knows what they are doing here. There were two drinks we had too. One was a sweet saffron cold drink that had lemons, cucumber, and basil seeds in it. At first I was like seeds in a drink?!?! But I like this better than bubble tea back in BC. It is a must try. For our after dinner course it was a black tea with a beautifully tasty piece of Baklava. I highly recommend coming here. And every time I’m in Newfoundland I will be stopping in.

The food at this place is incredibly delicious, without a doubt. Every time I've eaten here, I've been really happy with the quality of the food. However, there's an issue when it comes to their customer service. I've been to this restaurant twice before, and I recently went there hoping that their service had gotten better. Unfortunately, it hasn’t improved yet. For example, when you sit down, you have to wait for a waiter to come over and ask you for a drink. This can be kind of embarrassing when you're with a special friend and you have to keep looking around for the waiter just to get a glass of water. Additionally, there are no salt and pepper on the table. Although I mention that the food preparation was really good this time and the food came out quickly, the rest of my food was taken from the table without even asking me if I wanted to take it home or not and I had to request a takeout box. We also needed some more things, and it took us at least 10 minutes to find the waiter and ask him to bring them to us. Overall, the waitstaff should be more attentive and check on the customers' needs. Unfortunately, they didn't do that. Even when my friend thanked the waiter for the delicious ice cream, he didn't respond because the he was in a hurry to get back to the kitchen. I have a suggestion for the restaurant. Despite the fact that the food is really, really good, so it would be a good idea to hire two or more waiters to manage the customer service aspect. These waiters should be trained really well. I hope they take my feedback seriously and work on improving their customer service, which is essential for their...
