Please respect customer’s time. We called this morning to ask about a reservation and we were told there was only 7:30 but they encouraged us to walk in around 5 and it shouldn't be a problem to get in. We arrived at 5:15 and were told it would be 30 minutes to get a seat. We asked if they had fish and chips because we know the demand on Good Friday and were told yes by the staff, and they took our number to call us. We waited 35 minutes in car and nobody called so we went back in and had to wait another 10 minutes to be seated. The server got us drinks and we ordered fish and chips and were told no fish without a reservation. We explained that we asked that before committing to wait. The server went to double check and came back and said it was ok because we were told that they had fish. As the server said this, the supervisor came over and said no fish because we didn't have a reservation and that it was a miscommunication. So we got up to leave and although they said sorry there were no attempts to try and keep our business and take responsibility for causing this waste of my time. I explained to the supervisor that we were told there was fish and waited 45 minutes and he said the fish we have is frozen and thawing for reservations. Again he did not take any responsibility for the issue. I said so you are fine with this and he said no I'm not fine with it. Still he did not try to salvage a customer relationship with any kind of goodwill offer for my wasted time. So as I turned to leave he had the nerve to say have a nice day which felt like sarcasm. Whoever owns/manages Pops Diner needs to train or empower this supervisor to resolve these types of situations without further frustrating a potential customer. This was only my second time visiting Pops and the first time the food was good. We had a couple of issues with not having menu items in stock and turkey leg bones in the sandwich but the service was good which made the difference. The service today was non-existent as...
Read moreHeard a lot of people say how great this place was so we decided to give it a go. The hype was sadly exaggerated.
The inside decor was nice and matched with the theme and it seemed very clean. We did notice that a majority of clients were elderly, perhaps that explains the food (we'll get to that momentarily). The service was decent outside of the fact that our server was over every other moment to ask if we were ready, even though I'm still reading the menu. I eventually had to tell him I'd let him know when we were ready.
She ordered the spicy chicken burger and I had the classic burger and we ordered milkshakes. The food was quite terrible, the milkshakes tasted almost identical to McDonalds, she had vanilla and i had strawberry. They were ok but probably not worth what you pay considering you'd get more and pay less for the McD's. The burgers were.... just bad. Hers was so salty and the so called "spicy Caribbean" was barely present. My classic burger had no taste at all, like it was never seasoned and nothing was done to give it flavor, just bland. The fries that came with both our meals were not completely cooked, tasted like the fries weren't blanched at all and still not cooked through.
Also, our burgers came with no sauce on them at all, they brought out mayo, mustard and ketchup so you put it in on yourself. I've been to many restaurants and studied food industry since 2003 and ive never heard of a place making you dress your own burger.
This was a bad experience overall, the food was not worth the money and I should say something but the point of these reviews is to get the most non-biased view. I would suggest AGAINST going here, you'd be better off with almost any fast food burger place instead, at least you'll be satisfied and full when...
Read moreAll in all it was a good experience and I dont regret going. The food tasted delicious and the portions were nice. I wasnt a huge fan of the gravy but I didnt order the poutine. As we sat down it felt like archie and jughead would walk through the door any moment. The server that took our orders was friendly and kind but was slow despite not being busy at all while we were there. We waited at least 5 minutes for our milkshakes and like I said our server wasnt busy taking any other orders or anything. The club sandwich my friend got had dark meat turkey on it which would have been nice to know. I work in a kitchen and all the club sandwiches ive made for customers had white meat. Considering theres preferences about the type of meat people eat it would have been nice to at least know that the club comes with dark meat not white meat. The menu also didnt mention anything about a cherry for the milkshakes. I was commenting on that to my friend just before we got the bill and she said it would have been nice to have a cherry. When the bill came it specifically stated on it that we got whipped cream, no cherry on our shakes. Which was correct but if the option for a cherry was there id like to see it on the menu next to where it said "add whipped topping: $1" Spent $60 for two people without a tip. If i go again ill be trying breakfast since its cheaper but then I'll have tried everything that...
