TL;DR: RJ Pinoy Yum is a great place to have a full meal or a quick bite, try out the filipino cuisine and have a great experience altogether, in terms of both taste and service.
When we ordered our food, we grossly underestimated the portion sizes they offered! This makes it a great value for money and also a good place for a group visit!
We tried the Wonton Nachos, Lomi Overload, Mango Graham Shake and Pansit Canton. The milkshake felt like a breath of fresh, tropical air with the snow outside. We felt everything that was offered was fresh and generous. Seasoning was a bit on the lower side, but that's reasonable since you could adjust much of it later and leaves room for preferences. The Wonton Nachos was such a simple but savoury dish! Overall, I wouldn't say everything was mouthwateringly delicious, but fulfilling enough to go back time and again!
The people here took great care of informing you about components of a dish that you could possibly have an issue with, offering replacements if possible. They were also very amiable and pleasantly concerned about your comfort and experience.
The place looks minimal but pretty, with bold colours and gorgeous photos of their dishes. There's a board at the entrance where you could leave a note - that's a singular feature which would stand out to you in terms...
Read moreI had a confusing experience here. They were very friendly and accommodating and the restaurant is very nice. However, they have a "gluten-free" menu but when I told them I had celiac disease they said they didn't know what that means I can't have. Additionally, the gluten free menu had dishes with "flour noodles" on it. I really appreciate that they came back and confirmed that it is a severe allergy and asked if cleaning everything would be enough but I don't think they understand what celiac and gluten free is. Other than the obvious foods like wheat flour, things like soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and many other things contain gluten unfortunately. For me it's more than a preference. I get severe abdominal pain, diarhea, dizziness, feaver, exhaustion, and sometimes vomiting among other things. Tests have confirmed that my digestive tract undergoes an immune response when gluten is present, damaging the lining. This can lead to cancers, diabetes, etc. It is not treatable other than to have absolutely 0 gluten. Please do a quick Google search and learn more about it. This is essentially false advertising as the gluten-free menu isn't gluten free. I would love to return in the future if this is dealt...
Read moreMy first time there and I placed an order for take out. Staff was friendly enough, sure. I had heard great things about this place and was very excited to try it out finally.
I was not happy with the portion sizes, or the flavours for that matter. The freshness wasn't there either (the pineapple rice was like the hard layer sitting on the top of untouched rice, and tasteless). The wonton soup had way way too much ginger--the broth as well as the actually meat fillings of the wontons (actual chunks of ginger). Again, the soup didn't get barely eaten. The pork belly dish was disgusting. No meat, all fatty chunks amongst raw onion lathered in a spicy sour cream and mayo sauce. One bite and I almost threw up, so that did not get eaten.
Oh and that takeout bag is soaked with wonton soup which soaked my car seat. Great.
Based on my experience, waste of money, and the fact that I have heard mixed reviews which display the lack of consistency--I will...
