Went in on a Wednesday afternoon to purchase some of Water Street's Rocket Bakery's famous fish cakes as we were visiting St. John's for a few days. We happily ordered fish cakes and we're told they sold out a few hours ago. Very disappointed. However, the next morning I called at 0810 (they open at 0830) and a gentleman answered the phone to inform me they were still unloading their delivery for the day. He recommended I call in about an hour.... I called at 0900. Same gentleman confirmed they had them. I called for a cab from the Sheraton and was at Rocket Bakery by 0920. They had a breakfast crowd present. The friendly lady behind counter was so nice to help us with our request and recommend how to travel with them. I ordered a dozen to take on our flight home for dinner that evening. We were given a small tub of tarter sauce (enough for the dozen) and the fish cakes were packaged in 2 domed plastic containers. We had them for dinner that evening. Despite not being fried they were so moist and delicious after reheating in the oven. We enjoyed most of them that evening. Would you believe we had the 2 remaining for breakfast the next day. 😮 Surprisingly, they were a great breakfast as well! Highly recommend (as we were) that you try them if you are in St. John's. Get them before noon and/or call first to confirm they have them.

I am only giving this a star, as the pecan square was okay I received this entire order in a 4x6? inch bag, with everything slapped on top of one another. I havent had Rocket in years, and its gone downhill terribly, sadly. The brownie didn't even taste of chocolate. It tasted like leftover refrigerator items. Like it had been in a cooler with items for weeks. And I'm not sure if the white bottom was mold, but I'm surely not eating it to find out. The Casablanca bar looked pretty, but the peanuts tasted stale and off. Inedible. As for the Partridgeberry Crumble - it was all crumble, and hardly any filling. Very dissatisfied. A Vachon flakie would be ten times more satisfying than this stuff. 0.5/10. Highly shocking this is what the place has been reduced to. Their desserts used to be really nice. RIP Rocket.

Pretty disappointed to see the price of almost every item being charged higher than the clearly stated menu pricing. These are basic ethical business principles and unacceptable!!! And this was our 2nd visit where we didn't even ask for a receipt yesterday because we trusted we're getting charged for what's being advertised!!! When flagged to the cashier, he couldn't help but say the system reflected these rates and he couldn't do much, wouldn't say it's his fault but the management should be accountable for mischarging 100s of their daily customers who probably haven't caught this!!! That apart, while the fish cakes were definitely good, the rest of the food was average at best with the Moroccan Chicken being very disappointing with just 2 small pieces of chicken!!

Update: I went today and ordered the rocket chicken sandwich and babychino. The everything was great. This place is amazing. It’s great for pick up and delivery. The best kind breakfast sandwich in a butter croissant is perfect. The Casablanca bar was tasty too. I also order hummus and crackers which are great if you are trying to be healthy. The crackers are made of flaxseed blend and gluten free. It’s nice place for a health conscious person, and someone who can’t be bothered with it to go. The prices are great. I put this place on the top of my door dash list. So happy I chose to order from here. Update: I went again today and had the rocket bun with chicken and a coffee. Everything was perfect. Update 10-27-2024 I went again today and my mocha was great. :-)

The 50s rocket theme of the restaurant is really fun and gives it an informal and fun-loving atmosphere where there is a constant buzz about the place. It's always busy from what we saw and when we went for lunch, we were pleasantly surprised with the fun atmosphere and the great informal service. They have a neat way where you head to the back and grab a numbered card out of a toaster and wait until you are called to give your order. The food is all delicious and there is nothing that isn't just what you'd want to eat. The coffee and the cafe is good and they do things in a simple and honest way. I loved the iced tea which wasn't sweetened. Perfect spot to get a quick bite. Worth checking out for breakfast/lunch if you're in the area.

This is a cool place. The location is excellent! The service is really great as well! I've had nothing but pleasant dealings with the employees here. The drinks are good! I've had a few different beverages, and they have all been great! They're a tad on the pricey side, but that's to be expected with local coffee shops. I got a chicken sandwich. I don't remember what exactly it was, but I do remember how mediocre it was. It was very expensive and for what it was, that price is not justifiable. It tasted like something you'd make at home with whatever fixins are in your fridge. I'll be back here for the snacks and drinks, just not the sandwiches. You'll be better off going next door to yellow belly.
