From the moment I walked into Sun Sushi, I could sense I was in for a treat. The atmosphere, with its warm and inviting ambience, served as a mere preamble to the culinary adventure that awaited. Little did I know, it was not only about the food, but also the exceptional service led by the commendable William Talbot that would leave a lasting impression.
As a sushi connoisseur, I've tasted this delicate cuisine from different corners of the globe, but my recent visit to Sun Sushi set a new benchmark. The sushi was absolutely spectacular - a harmonious blend of freshness, taste, and creativity. The high quality and integrity of the ingredients were evident in every bite, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to delivering an unparalleled sushi experience.
The star of the night, without a doubt, was the sushi maestro himself, William Talbot. His dexterity with the knife was a sight to behold, slicing through the fresh fish with precision and expertise that can only come from years of dedicated practice. What made this experience truly amazing, however, was William's genuine passion for his craft. His knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious, making each roll not just a meal, but a story waiting to be savored.
The level of service matched the caliber of the food. Prompt, attentive, but never intrusive, the staff operated as a well-oiled machine under the leadership of William. It was evident that customer satisfaction was not just a goal, but a culture ingrained into the very fabric of Sun Sushi.
In conclusion, Sun Sushi is not just a restaurant, but a destination for any sushi lover. It's an experience that starts with the sight of artfully prepared sushi, continues with the taste of exquisitely fresh ingredients, and ends with a feeling of sheer satisfaction. A big shoutout to William Talbot and the entire team for crafting such a delightful experience. I can't wait for my next visit to Sun Sushi. Five stars...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went for the "All You Can Eat." I have to say, I enjoyed our meal. I have ate at a fair amount of sushi places during my own travels, and Sun Sushi is good if you do not want to spend a lot of money. However, I did feel that the "All You Can Eat" price was a little much for the quality, but the prices for a menu order were reasonable.
Sushi Rolls: We had five different rolls, and they were all pretty good. My partner found that some of them were cut a little too thick for her to eat comfortably. I do agree that they were a little too large, but I they did not cause me too much grief. ;) The ingredients were fair and enjoyable.
Sashimi: We had Salmon, White Tuna, Tuna, Tuna Tataki. It was all good! I have no complaints here at all. I guess if one were to force me to provide a con, I would say that I wish the Salmon was cut a little thicker (see sushi roll con for irony).
Miso Soup: Was good. No real chunks of tofu in it, but it was cheap so what odds.
Wontong Soup: Honestly, here is the one draw back, it was the worst Wonton Soup I have ever had. The broth was oily and flavourless.
Sesame Balls: They were still very cold in the middle.
Service: The service was a little slow, but for a Tuesday night it was pretty busy. So, we should give them a little leeway here. However, they did not give me a second menu to order from and I had to hassle a server for it. They also staggered our meal awkwardly, which meant that some of us were done way before others.
Price Point 27.99 for all you can eat. For two of us it was about 64 before a tip. I felt that this was a little pricey for the amount and the quality.
Bonus: Many sushi places in St. John's do not offer all you can eat on a Tuesday, but this one does. And, you can always order off of the menu if you wish.
I would go back here again for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wandered into the Japanese restaurant Sun Sushi by accident. The fact is that the restaurant I planned to go to turned out to be closed. But I'm not even a little sorry about what happened. First of all, I was captivated by a rather spacious room in Sun Sushi. The restaurant interior can be safely attributed to the traditional Japanese. As if heavenly bodies, hanging paper chandeliers, made in the origami technique create warmth and comfort. Various Japanese panels depicting hieroglyphics and sakurašø hang on the walls. Tables and chairs in the Sun Sushi are black lacquered, as befits the Japanese style in the interior. The windows are decorated with a Japanese ornament made of wood. I don't know how many visitors there are in Sun Sushi during rush hour, but at the time of my visit (rainy Sunday afternoon) there was no one. As for the dishes I ordered, I was satisfied. The Rainbow rollš£ were delicious, although the portion wasn't too big (I don't know, maybe I was too hungry). I had to order another dish: Tempura Shrimpš¤ Noodles. But the soup portion seemed to me just huge!!! The broth was just great, the noodles were delicious! The soup seemed to taste a little sweet (probably because of the seaweed). I would perhaps prefer to have a little less Tempura chips in the soup (this is just my opinion). I also forgot to say that while the dish was being prepared, the waitress brought me miso soup. It was a nice bonus! Visiting the Sun Sushi restaurant was the best experience in St.John's. In addition to excellent food and a spacious interior, I was very pleased with the view from window. It opens directly onto Duckwort street (one of the oldest streets in North America!!!), as well as the harbour and...
