Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in St. John's

Possible racist server. Went in here with my mom yesterday. Barely got any service. To note, we were the only non-caucasians in there. People coming in before and after us got more service and care than we did. Messed up my mom’s order, gave fries instead of rice. Different server noticed something was wrong and asked me. Our server came back and said she put it in wrong, that’s fine mistakes happen. After that though, we received even less service. Had to flag the waitress down just to get another drink as mine was sitting empty at the edge of the table for a while. She ignored our table most of the time but was very attentive to the tables beside us. Just dropped our drinks at our table and left without saying a word(only asked for two refills, one for each drink by the way). Other tables though, she was very friendly and nice to them. Our food was supposed to come with their “Signature Chalet Dipping Sauce”. Didn’t even come with it. Wasn’t offered it. Other tables were offered it though. I’ve worked as a waitress before so I know exactly how her attitude should be like especially working in customer service, but we didn’t get the same treatment as the others. Literally just wanted the bare minimum. Notably less service than the other restaurants we visited in the vicinity. No tip was given and no one I know will never come back here again. Absolutely...

Overall an excellent experience.

Our server, Nicole, was attentive but not overbearing, polite and friendly.

There was a bit of a wait for our food however this was due to two large groups which arrived just before us. Our server explained this to us in a timely manner.

Food was excellent, ribs adequately sauced and well prepared. The restaurant did run out of their new Kale Caesar salad which is understandable, especially on a Saturday night.

Another person in our party had a burger with green beans both of which they enjoyed. However, having the vegetables on the same plate as the burger caused the bottom bun to be soggy (from the water off of the beans). The presentation was nice but for the sake of the bun it may be worth it to put vegetables on a separate plate.

The atmosphere was bright and roomy. Well arranged tables not too close together yet filled the space tastefully. There could be a draft by the door at times however.

When I called to make a reservation the staff member who answered the phone, Courtney, was very helpful. Even though I was unsuccessful (I was informed they only make reservations for groups of 10 minimum) the staff member was patient and as accommodating...

Me and family went yesterday for supper. This was a bad experience from the time we sat down. Our waiter was the longest time before she came to our table. Which was fine at the time because it was busy. After our waiter came to our table. She took our order, I ordered my meal before I got to ask for a drink. She was putting away her paper tablet. I asked for a beer, and right away, she said they don't have it, never gave me any other options, so I just water. Later, 2 other families came in, and the same waiter took their orders. Those families got their meals way before us. When we finally got our meals, a lot of it was reheated. I had a loaded potato, well thats what they call it. It only had melted cheese and RAW bacon on it. I tried the potato, but it was like cardboard. So, without saying I did not eat that potato. Just had my ribs dry. My girlfriend said her meal was not good either. When we both got home later in the night, we both got sick. I would never recommend this...
