Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in St. John's

Now we are November 2018 and I have come back to this restaurant to give it another chance! Ordered the festive platter which is 1/3 rib (4 ribs) and a 1/4 chicken breast as I wanted white meat!

The French fries and dipping sauce fine as always! The cranberry side just ok. The chicken Breast was good but the ribs warm at best felt as if they had them in a plate waiting for an order to come through!

Service horrible!!

They delivered the platter with a fork only no knife and some people do use a knife when we eat a meal which I think they feel we are all potentially animals and do not require a knife!

Now in most restaurants you get also a side plate for the chicken and especially the rib bones! Here I am having to use the single napkin that the brought me for such a task. 10 or more minutes into eating my meal I see the waitress walking around and ask if it would not be too much trouble to get a couple of napkins so I can keep my hands clean while eating.

Now she comes back with not one or two but eight new napkins and an attitude!

Last time coming into this location!!!

Stay away there are so many better places to serve you the way one needs to be served...

Will never EVER eat here again. Service was terrible - every single person we interacted with was rude, and seemingly annoyed with our table.

We brought my grandmother who is literally 100 years old out to dinner as a special treat, and they made her night so miserable she cried in the car. They refused to substitute chicken tenders instead of chicken on the rib combo, and then kept returning to the table to remind us that they couldn’t do that? They made her feel like a burden when this was supposed to be a fun night out for her. They ended up making us buy a separate chicken tender meal for her. Didn’t explain why, just said they couldn’t do that. Meanwhile, we did it last week with no issue.

Not to mention, the manager on duty went to every single table to ask them if they were driving a red car because someone couldn’t get in their car? One, that’s not their job and two, they interrupted a lot of meals with no apology.

Disrespectful and rude, and the food was awful. My roast beef was mostly fat. Wondering if that was on purpose because I complained about the treatment of my grandmother? Who knows.

Anyways, save yourself the disrespect and...

Would never go there again. The girl that took our order didn't have a clue what she was doing. We ordered 3 chicken and rib combos, and a 1/4 chicken combo. When my wife looked at the receipt we were charged for extra drinks, (which comes with the meal) And charged for all white meat on all 4 meals (which we did now ask for). Told her about it... Apparently when you buy a meal and it is advertised as $13.49 with a beverage you still have to pay a extra $1.50 for your drink.... but if you didn't want the drink it comes on of the $13.49... 😆.

When we asked her about the meals being white meat (that we didn't ask for or like)she turned around and walked into the kitchen shaking her head. I told the other girl I wanted my money back and didn't want the food. Manager came to do the refund, never asked what happened or nothing. And for a manager he was way underdressed for his position.

WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THIS...
