As someone who works in the restaurant industry part time myself, i will always tip (the amount based on service) and I truly sympathize with others who work in the industry but WOW… this was the worst restaurant dining experience that i’ve ever experienced, so much so that it wasn’t worth a cent of a tip. First of all, it took 25 minutes from when we were sat at our table for the waitress to even show up at our table… we ordered right away because we knew if we didn’t, we wouldn’t know when she’d come to our table again. Food came, we asked for water with no ice and she literally never brought it to our table. She never once came by to refill our waters, ask us how we were doing, or anything. We had finished with our food by the time she even glanced at our table again. We asked for the cheque and was JUST THEN told that they would only be accepting cash payments, server said “there was a sign posted on the door”. I admit it was partially our bad for not seeing the sign, but on the way out it was a small A4 sized paper written in fine point sharpie, very easy to miss. When we had confronted the server about not being told about this cash only requirement either by her or the hostess that sat us (in my opinion that is definitely something you shouldn’t miss out on telling your customers??) she ROLLED HER EYES AT US, gave us attitude and just said “I could’ve but i was busy”. Again, working at restaurant myself, I understand being busy, but it is also really easy to turn people away from a table if you’re “too busy” for your customers and too busy to give out important information beforehand. How can you say you’re too busy for your customers as a server? That’s your job no? And the attitude and eye rolling was completely unnecessary. At the end she let us etransfer to her manager to pay, and after we had told her we already e transferred she said “ok” and left the table, leaving us with another 15 minutes with no idea if she was coming back because apparently we were going to be “using her manager as an atm”. It wasn’t until I had to go up to the hostess and ask what was up and if our server was ever coming back to make sure the bill was paid ghat we could finally leave this horrible dining experience. Will not be dining here again, hoping that the mount pearl location has better service because I don’t hate...
Read moreFirst time going here, and it was a decent experience.
I loved the atmosphere with multiple tvs and different mainstream sports going on. I hope other sport genres or events would be made available as I and many other International students would love to see a cricket match together in an outside dinning space.
I really enjoyed the fact there were many people of colour here and they all appeared to be happy, enjoying food and treated fairly. That is a very important observation I have when dining out since moving to this province as I have witnessed/been subject to: racism or discrimination when dinning out (by staff or general patrons in the environment).
The staff here were knowledgeable about menu items, warned us about possible flavour or texture clashes as a couple menu items seemed to be different. I ordered some sort of hamburger with peanut spread. I thought it would be spicier or better complimentary flavour. It was still an ok burger but it was a dull thick nut spread. I thought it would be creamy and spicy, a nice fusion of culture flavors. My fault for misunderstanding.
The burger was also extremely greasy. I thought it was just mine, but my family also had two different burgers and theirs were as well. I believe it was the bacon that made it very messy. The beef patty was thick and didn't appear to be frozen or at least it tasted fresher than I have gotten at other places.
I enjoyed the staff, the food and the tvs and lighting were good. We went between lunch and dinner and it was not busy. The booth was comfortable (especially for us plumper folks) and as someone with back pain, I enjoyed that seating as it was supportive. The washroom and eating areas were clean and staff always were moving about checking in on the customers and refilling drinks. That was important because I was relying on having a drink readily available to be able to get the peanut butter on that burger down.
Next time I hope to try their wings.
I like the fairly close location to the university and the Avalon. It was family friendly (at least the time of day we went).
It was overall...
Read moreChantelle Chantelle Chantelle. I’m really sorry I’m even doing this. I’m super upset. And I’m super upset at how you handled my situation. I wasn’t angry, or aggressive. Heck, I thought I was kinda funny actually. I also had some great pointers on what to tell the boys on the line to watch out for. The honey garlic squeeze bottle is definitely tipped over in a cambro filled with water…. And the burger. Chantelle… the burger was so bad I don’t even know how that made it past your window. If they should be going out well done that burger was a drink coaster in hell made of pure charcoal. My girlfriend got me to take a bite because she knew I wasn’t going to believe how much it resembled what I would imagine a very well loved pair of leather loafers tasted like. My poor little throat hole could barely choke that down. At this point I should have kept my defence up because I was blindsided by the foreign object on the inside of my chicken burger. I couldn’t tell if it was the finger of a glove or a piece of the wrapper fighting for its life in my mouth. I actually still don’t even know what it was. I gave up. But I digress …. I worked really hard for the 80 dollars I spent trying to celebrate the end of some really lame doctors appointments with my girlfriend. And at the end of the phone call I had with you Chantelle I was just too ticked off honestly, I couldn’t even accept the free meal that I had to arm wrestle you for. I don’t know why you had to fight so hard with me over what… I’d say that was like 10 bucks max including food cost and wages? And you wanted me to get in my car and drive there AFTER all of that? When I paid and tipped someone to hand deliver it to me? And for what, another one of those burgers? I’m sorry sister. I’m not sure if the expectation of an unhappy customer should be ground level but I mean… I expected a little more than that. You could have at least pretended to sound like you wernt going to hang up the phone and head directly to the smoke pit.
I’m...
