The Cannery Kitchen & Social — Restaurant in St. John's

We have been in St Johns for 5 days and this is the worst place we have tried yet. To say the service was slow is an understatement. 15-25 mins was the average wait time to get our empty pint glasses filled. Ordered a club sandwich and hamburger and that took an hour to get. The "8oz" burger was burnt and the size of a McDonald's patty, the $4 Bacon topper was 2 strips of overcooked hard and crumbly popsicle sticks and the $2 cheddar topper was a slice of plastic cheese. The fries were overcooked and we got packets of ketchup instead of a bottle. The club was mediocre at best and dry as there was no mayo on it. This kitchen needs to get its act together and a bar tenders job is to tend bar, not answer the phones, take food orders, serve food orders, take all the takeout orders and run the kitchen. At the very least make sure your customers have drinks at all times. I mean the place is only open 5-9pm 3 day's a week, how can you not have your act together. Wow, I haven't had such a bad experince in a very long time. Their prices are ridiculous for what they serve. Definitely will...

Our first and last experience there. It took almost an hour to get nachos, wings and bruschetta appetizers. Soggy nachos, we ordered wings tossed in buffalo sauce with blue cheese dressing, got dry wings and ranch dressing. All four of us ordered mains, only three came... we had to go to the bar and ask for the fourth and got it 30 minutes later after the other three of us had finished! Wait staff said the 'chef' overlooked the order. Gave us packets of ketchup and the vinegar came in a plastic bottle. Salt shakers empty, even the ones on neighboring tables. Bad disappointing experience. It wasn't busy...

My guess, too many shortcuts are instructed by the chef.

Breakfast is costco ham slices warmed up, frozen home fries, eggs might be from a carton. The bacon is at least cooked properly although they run out before breakfast is over. Waffles are rubber, fruits on display are a week old and bruised. Nice fresh fruit salad but no yogurt.

From the previous reviewers and pictures posted it all comes back on poor instructions and purchasing from the chef.

Kitchen staff seem nice and eager to work but they can only do so much with substandard product...
