The Parlour Gelato + Coffee — Restaurant in St. John's

This place is awesome. The ice cream is on the expensive side (~$9 for 2 generously sized scoops.), but this place is honestly one of the very few that is worth the price, as the ice cream is amazing.

The staff there have always been very welcoming and make it very social-anxiety-friendly. They give you time to decide your order from the chalkboard if you are unsure so there is no pressure, they have never hurried me. (I have poor eyesight so it often takes me a second to read the ice cream flavours.)

The atmosphere is great, makes me feel like i'm in an italian cafe in a city. It has all around good vibes and I always see many happy people there making use of the benches and chatting with coffee + ice cream on hot days!

I visit the parlor today and while the gelato I ordered was delicious, I was very disappointed on the service. The young ladies were very rude and not friendly at all. They are representing a local business and if they do not like someone they don’t have to show it during their work hours. I had to initiate my request, the young lady was just staring at me, while I went to pay, the young lady there did not make any comment and rudely turned around the machine for me to pay. Left the table and started to chat with her coworker about private life. The ones that were serving me the gelato started talking about her private life, her trips . Unfortunately, my experience at this place was very disappointing. I ordered two kinds of ice cream - a sorbet and a raspberry-based flavor - and both tasted terrible. The flavors were completely bland, artificial, and nothing like what was advertised. It felt like eating plain, colored

ice with no real taste.

What made it even worse was the

atmosphere. The place was extremely noisy and chaotic. People were shouting across the room, making it impossible to relax or even hear your own thoughts. It was not a comfortable or welcoming environment at

all.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for quality ice cream or a peaceful spot to enjoy...
