My partner and I usually order from this place whenever we craved for pizza because it's just around our neighborhood and the quality of the food is pretty good. Today we ordered for the Donair pizza and paid for extra Donair sauce. We've ordered the Donair sauce many times before and they always gave it to us on the side (in a small container). The cashier didn't ask if I wanted it on the side or on the pizza so I was thinking he was going to give it on the side. When we got our pizza, I asked the other staff for the sauce and he went back inside the kitchen to check with the cashier. They were talking in their language. After a few moments the cashier went to the window explaining that the sauce was already on the pizza and sounded like he was lecturing me that I told him it was "extra" that's why the sauce is on the pizza. And if I wanted the sauce in the container I should pay again. Of course I knew that, he didn't have to rub that in. Mind you, I wasn't even arguing with him but he was being defensive. He sounded arrogant implying that I didn't understand the definition of "extra". I didn't bother to speak to the supervisor after that encounter because we were very hungry and headed straight home. The pizza was delicious as always, glad I left tips for the cooks. My only recommendation is for management to train their new staff about the fundamentals of customer service. Maybe the cashier was having a bad day, but he shouldn't take it out on...
Read moreOrdered a poutine and a Donair (wrap) over phone.
First there was a heavy language barrier, both had to spell out common words repeatedly and repeat numbers over and over. But it happens and this isn't why my review is low.
The website listed a 'Venice Poutine' as one with hamburger meat and onions on it. Then was told they don't serve that anymore. (but they still sell hamburgers, and it as a topping for pizza?).
No worries, still ordered the large poutine. The picture they used on the website showed cheese curds on it(main reason I choose them over any others). What I got was a far cry from that, it was shredded and very little cheese. The poutine itself wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything great. Typical shredded mozza with some gravy and fries.
Also after living in Halifax for awhile, I had a craving for a donair. What I got was horrible. The meat tasted old, the sweet sauce was very watery and barely any flavor. After two bites I threw it out.
With a modest tip (15%), I ended up paying almost $30 for a poor poutine, horrible donair and a 2lt Pop.
I wasn't impressed.
I don't think I'll give there pizza a chance, although it does look good. I can't trust the...
Read moreStill 2 stars. They have stepped their slice game up but still use the same absolutely disgusting bacon which I suspect comes from Halliday's meat market. Buy better bacon for the love of God. It stinks, literally, and ruins the pizza.
Ironically, the pizza pictured here behind their logo is not their pizza, but rather a better pizza that is made with dry cured pepperoni. This is not the pepperoni you will get at venice. What you will get is a sloppy, all encompassing layer of deli salami.
If you think this is the best pizza in St. John's you haven't had much pizza. Or maybe you have some kind of disease that has left you unable to taste anything, I dont know.
I would gladly change this to 5 stars of they got real pepperoni, put it on top of the cheese, and ditched that God...
