Many choices - something for everyone. Old classics paired with innovative twists. Polite but uninspired service.

I was here on a long-standing reservation with a group of about 40 people this week. We asked in advance if a smaller selection from the menu would be offered, but they assured us that they would be just fine with having us order from their full menu. We ordered drinks to begin with and I was surprised at the reasonable drink prices - I ordered a flight of 5 for $7, on the lower end of what I have paid for similar tastings in the past.

Our group took a while to materialize, although the majority of us were there within 15 minutes of our reservation time. By the 30 minute mark I think we had all placed our orders. The appetizers started rolling in about an hour later. An hour! By this time, a goodly number of us were quite hungry and I'll admit that a few people in our party were behaving somewhat rambunctiously, excited from the event that preceded the restaurant. The restaurant staff handled drink spills and loud voices graciously. I was seated at a quieter table and had to ask for a drink both times that my glass was empty.

30 minutes after the appetizers arrived, everyone got their food. This was over two hours since we had arrived. In my opinion, two hours is far too long to wait for food to arrive. If it meant everyone getting fed earlier, I'm sure we would have been fine with a smaller menu selection, or our foods coming out staggered. Perhaps a suggestion of a small selection of appetizers could have been given so that everyone would have something to dine on sooner rather than later.

With all that said, my mushroom goat cheese pizza was delicious. The thin crust had the perfect ratio of toppings to crust ratio and it was the correct temperature. I happily noted they had a pizza of the day on their menu, something to keep things fresh for everyone. There was only a minor slip up with one of the cheques in our large group and that person went back the following day to try something else on the menu, so all was well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone but with some changes for...

Was so excited about our date night here but what an awful experience! First, we were sat right beside the door to the outside which looked nice at first but was extremely cold! (We didn’t ask to move however so that part could be our fault).

Second our flight arrived with no labels of which beers were which. The lady did tell us but it wasn’t a nice presentation or anything.

Third, three arancini balls for $12 is a bit excessive. They were okay, like a 3/10, so $4 each is a stretch.

Fourth, ordered the 1 pc salt and vinegar fish and chips, the fish tasted literally powdered. It was a sorry excuse for true Newfoundland fish and chips, I have had so much better here (Dildo Brewing for example!!). My spouse had the cod burger which he said was greasy and gross. The bun was burnt. The fish tasted like old gross dirty oil.

Fifth, our service was slow and not great. The guy was polite enough but he had a script and said the exact same thing to every table “that didn’t last long, did it?” And “any plans for the rest of the evening?” - some niceties sure but it definitely doesn’t make you feel appreciated or respected really? Idk. Strange. Was he AI or an NPC with only so many words in his vocab at work? I guess I’ll never know, because I’ll never be back.

Sixth, or whatever number I’m on now, the meals and one flight cost us $70. Pricey for crap quality and cheaply made food. Server also didn’t inform us that there was a $2 up charge for chipotle aioli, and another $2 for sweet potato fries. Also not communicated on the menu. Should be mentioned when ordering, that’s like a service standard if it’s not posted somewhere.

Do yourself a favour and do NOT go to Yellowbelly, the beer is a 2/10, the food a 1/10 and the service… idk, somewhere in...

To start, our server was very rude and very obviously not listening to us at any point, especially while ordering. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Nachos with no onion. We stated that this wasn’t a preference, this was an allergy. The nachos came out with onions. I had a feeling this would happen because as stated above, it was obvious he wasn’t listening to us when we were ordering. We sent the nachos back, emphasizing that this was an allergy. A few minutes later, a “new” plate of nachos are brought out. The green onion had been scraped off the top and put in a container and still given to us??? And there was still a significant amount of red onion hidden underneath the top layer of chips. We’re assuming these were just our original nachos and they tried to scrape off the onions. Even tho they were made aware it was an allergy. We sent it back again, emphasizing once again that this is an ALLERGY. Finally the third nachos came out. They still had the green onion in a container on the side (I’m not sure what part of onion allergy they don’t understand) and there was still a handful of random red onions on the bottom layer of nachos. Besides for this, our drinks kept getting forgotten. We waited forever for refills, and never did get them. I’ve been to Yellowbelly multiple times before but after this I absolutely will not be going back. So to anybody with food allergies, you might want to twice before going to Yellowbelly to eat as they clearly don’t have any...

Me: “Do you serve Bud?” Nicole: “Ummm...no.” Me: “Excellent.” That might be an odd question but having just walked down George Street where it seems every bar serves Bud and almost nothing local, perhaps it makes more sense. I want craft beer. And I was surprised to find that it was harder to get than I was expecting. And that Bud product is more expensive than craft. I digress. YellowBelly is fantastic and I anticipate going their again this weekend. Nicole was an excellent sever with a great knowledge of their in-house brewed beer. Their 5 taster flight was excellent and she even brought us a complimentary taster of their sixth (seasonal) beer. We had chips and salsa as well as onion rings so we didn’t get a true taste for their food but looking around it seemed that it was very well received. I would definitely come back for a full meal. Their seasonal cream ale was fantastic as was their regular wheat ale. The atmosphere was great with lots of people coming and going. Pricing was amazing. $6.15 for a pint of in-house beer vs $9 for a Bud at a place on George Street. I mean, isn’t it obvious? Props to Nicole for being a fantastic server!
