HEADLINE: Absolutely Delicious & Flawless Service
We were camping out in Bon Echo and looked for a place to eat. Lakeview Tavern & Restaurant is sceneically located right next to Beaver Lake.
My family and I tried the poutine, fish and chips, and inferno burger. The prices are certainly fair for the generous portions provided. I'm a big eater, and I was barely able to finish the inferno burger (with all the sides provided in the meal)
Poutine: These fresh cut crispy fries were coated in a rich brown gravy and topped with lots of cheese curds. Be careful, this poutine is seriously addictive (in all the right ways).
Fish and Chips: My personal favourite from the various items we tried. The oil used to fry the oil wasn't old and "fishy tasting" like in many other restaurants. It's clear that the staff ensure everything is fresh. The batter was crisp, light, and flavourful. The fish was flaky and really, really big! They don't skimp out. And the chips/fries were great. Everything was complemented by the tartar sauce.
Inferno Burger: This burger was juicy and tangy with just the right amount of spicy. You can taste all the different layers of the burger. The cheese, crispy onion chips, and buffalo sauce worked well to deliver a kick to my tastebuds. This burger also came with fries and a fried pickle spear. It was my first time trying a fried pickle spear, and I really wish I'd tried this earlier.
Service: The entire resturant staff was extremely hospitable and warm. A special shout-out to Darcy for making great recommendations and ensuring our experience was memorable. And thank you for taking care of the beautiful flowers outside the tavern.
Overall/TLDR: It's more than worth the drive to eat at the Lakeview Tavern & Restaurant. The food is fresh, flavourful with true small-town generous portions. Whether it's takeout by the lakeside or dining in and experiencing one of their many musical events, it'll be...
Read moreWe were cottaging in the area (for the first time) but we decided to dine out for my husband's birthday. We had a great experience with Shanna. We are halal/kosher with no alcohol so it's hard to dine out in small towns. We don't have high expectations for that reason. So we had a delightful dinner at the tavern. Happy with the appetizers because majority were meat-free (except for seafood which we can eat). The food was quick, fantastic portion size, and piping hot. We got fish and chips plus vegetarian burger. The crab and jalapeno was amazing!
Shanna was kind enough to check whether even the poutine gravy was vegetarian or not. She also confirmed whether or not the fish was not beer battered and was fried separately from other meat. She went out of her way to make us comfortable....
Read moreI used to absolutely love this place about 3 years ago. The food was amazing and service was better than most restaurants. I went in Sunday evening and ordered what my waitress said was "the special" which was apparently the fish and chips. Even though it took an hour to get our food, it was fine because they were swamped in takeout orders, and it's a popular place. The food was great, had a great time taking my son out. I didn't look at the particulars of the bill, but realized on the way home that I was charged regular price for the special, and it was a dollar more than it was on the menu. Also, apparently a 15% tip is something to scoff...
