The broad shouldered limestone building is something of a landmark in the area, open and lively with this delightful café. Reviewers have noted the friendliness of the proprietors, and we agree. This was our first visit. 4 of us came for lunch, and our curiosity about the food and coffee options was graciously accepted. The daily special soup was a hearty, tasty split pea, and the accompanying freshly baked buttery croissant sandwiches were well composed and proportioned. The butter tart was appropriately slightly over the top sweet (they have to be); the date square more restrained, with a fine crumble with a hint of butter and salt. We got lost on our way to Kingston and stopped by at this cafe at the street corner before going back to highway for a breather. As soon as I stepped in, the warm homey atmosphere and the lady’s smile made me feel I lucked out to have gotten lost! Coffee was very good, and I had soup and sandwiches that were very very good, too. Such a nice place - next time I will take a detour to come back (not by getting lost).
