What a find, wish I took pictures! I don't like ranking restaurants, every cuisine brings different flavors which aren't apples to apples (pardon the food pun). However, we've been in the area for 10 years and this place is now #1 on my list in Strathroy. Hands down! Genuine Italian cuisine, I have no idea why this place never popped on my radar until today but I'm sure glad it did. Really felt like an all occasions kinda place, casual lunch, family dinner or date night. The menu had lots of options, I will be back without the kids for a date night for sure! The drink menu sounded pretty good too, although, I didn't try any signature cocktails or wine this evening with the kids.
The Calamari... good lord! Hard to find it properly prepared, fresh, and light. Usually you gotta be closer to the ocean for perfection that melts in your mouth like that, kids loved it.
Super fresh ingredients all around and the chef clearly knows the way around a kitchen, holy moly. The cooking technique was bang on, I've never seen my 4 year old finish ALL of her chicken (good size portion too!). When it was served to the table, I legit thought that it was wrong and they accidentally dropped off fish fillets because the chicken was just sooooo fall apart tender, juicy, and hand battered.
Service was 10/10. Very nice attentive server, fast turn around, awesome atmosphere. I thought we were a bit underdressed at first in my faded camo hoodie and Levi's but the owner was super friendly and came over to check on everything. They clearly care about good quality real food and great service which is getting rare, it was truly a pleasure to meet all of you, cheers!

From the moment you step into The Balcony Cucina, you're transported into a vibrant blend of laid-back coastal charm and sophisticated Italian flair. Perched perfectly with a view that’s as unforgettable as the food, this restaurant effortlessly combines ambiance, service, and exceptional cuisine to create a dining experience that’s truly top-tier.
The menu is a celebration of modern Italian favorites, with a fresh twist on traditional flavors. The wood-fired pizzas are perfectly blistered, the pasta is handmade and al dente every time, and the seafood is unbelievably fresh—highlighting the best of local ingredients. The burrata starter? Dreamy. The prawn linguine? A showstopper. And don’t leave without trying the tiramisu—it’s a dessert that hugs your soul.
What truly elevated the experience was the incredible staff. A heartfelt thank you to Marco, Julia, John, Anthony, Rosanna, Ben, and of course, the host with the most, Gus. Your warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made the night unforgettable. You turned a great meal into an extraordinary experience.
Whether you’re here for a date night, a group celebration, or just to treat yourself to something special, the team makes every guest feel like family.
Add to that the breezy rooftop vibe, cozy lighting, and cocktails that rival Sydney’s best, and you’ve got a destination that’s hard to beat. The Balcony Cucina isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a reminder of how joyful dining out can be when everything is done right.
Highly recommend. We’re already planning our next visit for great food and a daytime golf experience that satisfies the true meaning of a good life, good people, and small...
Read moreWe really wanted to love this place. Gus was very welcoming and pleasant. It started with the wine. Wanted the Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio from the menu but was told it was ‘replaced’ by Josh Sauvignon blanc. Not the same. At all. Asked for a glass of Prosecco and was told it was by the bottle only. Said by the glass on the menu. Was told they could make an Aperol spritz …. Which has Prosecco in it. Finally was able to get the Prosecco by the glass. None of the food was so bad that we would send it back but it wasn’t good either. Calamari for appetizer was undercooked and under seasoned. Dip was inedible. Almost tasted rancid. Again, margherita pizza was severely undercooked. Very doughy. Asked what the seasonal vegetables were and was told they were ‘probably’ mushrooms and peppers and asparagus. She could go check if we wanted her to. Decided on the fettuccini Alfredo. It was luke warm and gummy when it arrived. Pasta seemed good but sauce was congealed and chicken was not warm. Neither of the two of us who ordered the Alfredo ate much of it. The waitress never asked if it was ok. The highlight of the food was the tiramisu. Delicious! There was live entertainment. He was very talented but the music was simply too loud for a social restaurant. The volume was high and the musician sang very loudly. Music choices were good but you could simply not have a conversation.
We wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying this restaurant because we would really like to see it succeed. Maybe it was just...
