We visited Sushi Zion while attending a work conference at Pacific Academy, and it was a delightful find! Despite its inauspicious location in a suburban area, kitty-corner across from a gas station, there’s plenty of parking in the small corner complex. Korean-run, Sushi Zion offers a fantastic fusion of Japanese and Korean dishes. This time, we focused on the Japanese menu, but we’re eager to try their Korean options next. Our group opted for the bento boxes, which at $20-22, provide great value. I chose the sashimi bento, featuring two sets of six-piece mixed sashimi, four California rolls, tempura, japchae, potato banchan, a salad with a delicious lemony/orange dressing, miso soup, and an orange. It was incredibly filling and satisfying! My wife had the same bento and added the fried calamari, which was delicious. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented, especially at this price point. The service was excellent, with two servers constantly attending to our table of six, keeping our green tea and water refilled. We also loved the decor: clean, new, and bright with a light wood aesthetic reminiscent of Saku katsu restaurants. We’ll definitely be back soon to try more of their menu!

The pros are that there are lots of creative sushi roll flavours, the restaurant is clean and bright, and the food has Korean flair. The menu has several Korean dishes too. All the sushi and sashimi we tried was good and similar to sushi Mura in style and flavour. The cons are that after our party finished eating our meal and we were ready to pay, we took out a birthday cake since we went to their restaurant to celebrate a birthday but were told to put the cake away as they said it was considered outside food and no outside food is allowed. What I don’t understand is we already finished our meal and most other restaurants allow you to eat cake for a birthday at the end of a meal after fully ordering their food. It was a bit inconvenient for us but we complied and left the restaurant and made last minute plans to eat cake elsewhere.

I would like to review Zion Japanese restaurant in Fraser Heights in Surrey. We ordered a stone pot Bibimbap and Roll and Sashimi combo (lunch special). Food: Both of Bibimbap and Sashimi combo were delicious. However, the tuna sashimi was frozen. We notified the server who said they failed to defrost the tuna in time and replaced with a different cut of tuna. The portions were too small. We are not big eaters at all but left feeling only half full. Service: Server came twice to see if we needed any service. I would rate them 8/10. Overall: The food was actually very delious. However, the portion of the food was too small for the price. After spending $45 (including tips) we wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

The host needs to either fix her hearing or learn better communication skills. I ordered at the front to speed things up and told her I will eat here. I sat down after ordering and she brought food to the table in a take out bag. I just shook my head and went with it. She approached after a few minutes and told me I can’t eat take out at their table. I clarified and told her I had said to her I am eating here not take out not sure why you packed it. The next couple who came in same thing. Ordered but said they are going to sit for some Sake and she was confused. They had to repeat themselves a few times. The one guy made eye contact with me and raised his brow. I told them what I went through and we just exchanged a head nod. How is this place running with such a terrible hostess. I do not recall it ever being this horrible; sure just borderline but today it was horrible. Do not recommend.

Update to your response. There are 3 lies here! 1) She did not ask if I am ordering take out or dine in. I voluntarily said my kid is at Kumon I will eat here. Yes I confirmed there was no sauce on roll 2) I never stood by the door to wait so please check your security footage and note I sat down because I was going to eat there as I told her clearly. 3) I did not ask how long it would take. There were no other customers at the time (unusual because there usually are) and I have eaten here before. So I know for one roll you are normally prompt.

I did not approach the other customer. As he sat he made eye contact with me and raised his brows. I could tell he was feeling the encounter with your hostess odd. You are aware of non verbal body language right? I simply consoled him and said yes better clarify because that seems to be an issue here.

Please consider some more honesty in your reply. I found the experience very non considerate nor Japanese at all. I have travelled to Japan and the culture practices respect, harmony and diligence. Your employee was rude, had poor communication skills and did not practice these values. I have never had an issue like this with your restaurant until this visit. All the other visits have been without incident but friendliness has never been a strength of yours. Running a successful business for 6 years does m not mean you do not make mistakes. A further assessment of your employees communication skills needs to be done. I will happily not dine here again and not order my party trays for my staff or parties anymore. Thank you for allowing me to see your true colours of dishonesty and lack of customer service. If you had been more honest and actually acknowledged where the interaction failed I would have adjusted my review. I now see your business as unethical, dishonest and uninviting. I get it! All good there are much better and authentic Japanese...
