Due to covid, thali has been my last minute take out option as it’s the closest restaurant to my house. I have tried many dishes at this place with take out and dine in and these are my thoughts on them:
The samosa and channa plate and perfect and tastes just as it would in streets of India. Even though I’m not a fan of this restaurant’s channa, it tastes bearable when eaten with samosas and chatni.
Channa Bhatura however, has been a miss and not upto the standards to what a good plate of cholle bhature should taste. Both in take out and dine in- the cholle bhature has been a constant 3/10 with bad bhatura quality (more like papad, too crunchy for a bhatura) and channa tastes like tomato purre with no proper tadka. A big disappointment.
Kadha Paneer: again, a miss. It just doesn’t even taste like kadhai paneer. It’s not tasty for me. Both in dine in and take out, it has tasted like a pure with no proper tadka and veggies in it. A no. 4/10
Dal makhni: is a hit. I can taste the butter, the creaminess and everything that a dal makhni should taste like 10/10 for that.
Veg Biryani: again, a hit. Tastes perfect and is just how biryani should taste like. 10/10.
Naans: 5/10- they are soft and perfect when they are in dine in but are different and feels hard and like bread while in take out. Other restaurants however has naans that taste soft and rubbery (how a butter naan should be) both in take out and dine in. So that’s also something the restaurant should work at.
Kadhi Chawal: 9/10. One of the reasons i get kadhi chawal from them is because they are the only restaurant that sell it nearby. But, they are perfect. Kadhi is very hard to make, the thickness and the tadka for it needs perfection and their Kadhi Tastes great. Kudos to the chef for that.
Hopefully this helps fellow people to chose the restaurant or not and some of the things they would want tot try and some they should stay away from. And also that the restaurant takes notes from reviews and try to work on the dishes that seems to have an...
Read moreThis was our first visit to this location and we enjoyed the food very much, each dish we had was freshly prepared and truly authentic Indian. The volume of food for the price we paid was very good and very reasonable in price. The food came out fresh and hot and quickly they also seem to have a very good take out service with a wide range of foods for those that dine in and those that take it out.
Our server was a young fellow still in school and it was clean and very well spoken very polite and courteous. Although the place is not much to look at it was definitely clean and well taken care of.
There are only five booths which are very large in size and accommodate 6 people each. They also seem to have an excellent selection of sweets at the counter which I do not indulge it but they looked tasty.
Next time I will be sure to take photos because this time the food was so good we just started eating. This place is a must visit place on my list!
Be sure to enjoy...
Read moreBased on the many positive reviews I thought I'd try this place out. Service was almost non-existent. Someone came to the counter to take our order then we only saw anyone 20 minutes later when they brought some luke warm water to our table. 50 minutes after we placed our order, after watching several take-out orders come and go, we still didn't have our food and no sign of any wait staff so we left to find something to eat elsewhere.
Edited to add: The owner is clearly mistaking me for another customer. I was not drunk, nor was my dining partner. There were no other customers in the restaurant at the time we were there and we barely saw any staff. All we saw was the Skip The Dishes guy make several visits. We didn't even get our food so taking food and leaving without paying is completely untrue...
