I cannot say enough about how great the breakfast was. I ordered a peameal breakfast, while my friend ordered the monte cristo sandwich with a side of sausage. I wish we would have taken photos of the actual food but we dug in right away.
We arrived at 11:30 and while they do not do all day breakfast, they serve it generously until 12pm with lunch starting at 11am.
Highlights: Literally THE BEST SAUSAGES I HAVE EVER HAD. This point cannot be overstated. Do yourself a favor and just try them. I promise you will agree. Homefries are handcut and it makes such a difference. Enough menu options that I am already planning another breakfast and lunch. Excellent service.
We spoke with the new owner, Tammy, who was friendly and warm. She shared with us plans for upcoming events as well as info on what Sainte Marie has to offer.
If you do visit, keep in mind the dining atmosphere has been inherited and is slightly outdated -- however still very clean and friendly to larger groups. (Think high end cafeteria style in terms of table layout.) It also has some comfy areas to lounge and sit. The owner does have plans for stylistic changes, but considering the restaurant is apart of Sainte-Marie, these will require approval. I am looking forward to the changes they are planning but will happily come back before then.
I just wanted to special mention that the owners are bringing in these outdoor dining domes for First Light that guarantee a private VIP experience under the stars and fireworks. Definitely check out the website, as I do believe it is booked and prepaid online. It sounds super special, but is also affordable.
Check it out!! It's...
Read moreRe: Dining under the Stars Over all the experience was ok. We all agreed the food could use some refinements, although the portions were generous. The shrimp was a fan favourite. The food was not bad per se, but it had a very cooked in your home kitchen character to it. I also was not convinced it was all made on site. The staff were lovely and attentive. I was not fond of them bringing us our bottle of wine already opened when ordered. This should have been done table side - its part of the experience. Probably our biggest issue was the noise, but especially the smell of the diesel generators that heat / power the huts. There need to be improvements made in this regard. It takes away from the entire experience and defeats the purpose of a nice meal out under the stars atmosphere. Although natural gas or propane would be far better, I understand the portability factor required. A simple re-routing of the exhaust up and away from the huts would solve this. Food value was good for 3 courses. It's a great concept but still crude and needs refinements. There is a lot of potential here with some simple fixes. Would we do it again ? Probably not, at least not until these issues...
Read moreJust finished an AMAZING dinner at the Restaurant Saint Marie dining huts! Great staff, phenomenal food, and lovely place! We had the sticky ribs, bacon wrapped meatloaf lollipops, and the crab and cheese stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. Then our mains were chicken parm, pork souvlaki, and creamed shrimp. We tried all three desserts, crème brule, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate cake. The main portions were very generous, and everything tasted great. 10/10 recommend and we will definitely be back to check out the actual indoor restaurant.
The huts are heated. We dressed warmly and brought little blankets though as the cold does come in when the door opens, and they do have more blankets if you need them (we did not). It probably sat around 10C inside with -15C outside. Would NOT deter me from going back! Just dress for the temperature and...
