I have eaten here on 2 separate occasions. The first visit was with my friend who was visiting from out of town. We tried the okonomiyaki and enjoyed our meal so much that I was raving about it to all of my friends, coworkers and my husband for the following week. I couldn't wait to go back and have this dish again!

My second visit was an entirely different experience and this is why I have given a two star review. I took my husband for lunch just over one week after my first visit. I was so excited to have him enjoy the dish that I had been talking about for over a week.

We ordered 2 miso soups, meat balls and the okonomiyaki as I was excited to have it again. The soup was mediocre, tasted waterd down and could have used more salt, but we are easy going and let this slide. The consistency of the meat balls was a bit rubbery for me, but again, no complaints as the flavour was good. Next up, the okonomiyaki! I knew as soon as I put the first bite into my mouth that something was different...

The dish was not cooked through all the way, resulting in a starchy consistency. Because this dish is primarily made of egg, I was feeling a little bit nervous to continue eating it, so we decided to let the staff at Toki Doki know about this. Please keep in mind I was beyond excited to bring my husband here, and feeling disappointed that the dish was nothing like my first encounter.

What happened next really surprised me. I was expecting one of two things to happen: first, for them to cook our existing dish just a little bit longer to ensure our safety and to provide a comparable dish to the first time I had tried it. I was not looking for a free meal, I simply wanted to enjoy lunch with my husband.

Second, that they would do the right thing and re-make the dish, fully cooked and safe to eat ... but neither of these events transpired. The person on the truck looked at the dish, then pushed it back towards my husband and said "it's cooked enough" and that was it!

Absolutely zero attempt to make it right for us. This just didn't sit well with me. Customer service alongside consistency are two of many aspects required to run a successful business. It's a shame that I will never again be giving my business to Toki Doki and I will not be suggesting this establishment to friends, family, or tourists following this horrendous display of customer service. As stated in the beginning of this review, my first experience was fantastic, the second was incredibly...

We.wanted to experience Japanese street food and this is the closest we will get to Osaka in the near future. We ordered two things. The prawn okonomiyaki and the pork katsu bento. First the okonomiyaki is basically a Japanese pancake mixed with cabbage with various toppings. We chose prawn and it was amazing. The taste is very complex but so well balanced as it has a hinge of spiciness but not overpowering hotness. The prawns are just cooked enough but not overcooked. All of that covered with a layer of arugula that complimented the pancake really well.

Next the pork katsu bento box. No surprises here as it was was cooked to golden perfection. A twist though is in the garnish that we found pickled lotus root along with the radish. Definitely Kei has paid his attention to detail of each of his creation as who would have thought there will be surprises in such a popular Japanese dish like the pork katsu bento box.

This food truck (airstream) only opened since late January and is located by the Tofino Distillery. I am sure both Kei and Madi will see their new...

Toki Doki came as a recommendation during a kayak trip from one of the local kayak guides in Tofino. This meal certainly did not disappoint and deserves a post in its own right ! Zangi fried chicken - fluffy Hokkaido style fried chicken with very light batter and mayo style dipping. Excellent. Not too salty and the batter was very thin- you get chunks of chicken rather than batter. Okonomiyaki (spicy seafood flavour) - heaps of delicious seafood atop a fluffy pancake with veggies, osaka style (meaning no noodles) WOW. I thought the chicken was the star but this dish took the spotlight! the seafood (shrimp, squid) was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the generous portion of Ikura was just the cherry on top. Best Oko I’ve had outside of Japan. I’d give 6 stars if I could. 100% must visit while in Tofino or ucluelet.

You can enjoy your meal in the Tofino brewing company beside the food truck. Plenty of seating and dog friendly. Check their business hours to make sure they are open if you are driving from Tofino post...

Seriously yum! Last night we got take out Bento boxes and some snacks in ball form and everything was really tasty. The spicy togarashi sauce on the fried chicken was the best part. The chicken and crab meat balls were super flavourful and would be amazing in a rice bowl or soup too. The eggplant Katsu was also a winner. Definitely rich tho, perhaps still working out their oil temps during the dinner rush cause the lotus chips were a lil greasy, but that's take out diner for you! I could eat 100 of those daikon pickles. Will definitely be returning next time we are in town, can't wait for the Taiyaki.
