We are traveling this summer from Eastern Ontario and we ended up in Prince Edward Island over at Jacques Cartier Provincial campsite. I went on Facebook to see about a restaurant and everybody highly recommended,,, Our Family Tradition.... It was very busy that Sunday night supper time would barely any tables available so that must have told me something.... Believe it or not but I have never tried any Seafood in my life and this was going to be my first time. I picked the haddock and my wife chose the scallops... I am extremely honest and I tell it the way it is... Connie was our waitress and when I told her I have never eaten Seafood before she gave me a look and I knew right away that I came to the right spot.. thank you Connie for the unbelievable service and the Fantastic chit-chat...

My haddock was fantastic and I really enjoyed it and of course you always share a little piece with your wife and she loved it also.. Now about the scallops, that was a different story altogether,, I tried one piece and I don't know what they're supposed to taste like but they didn't have any taste and my wife agreed that they were very blah... she tried my haddock and said that it was absolutely fantastic and I would definitely agree with her that I enjoyed it tremendously... We then got for dessert a piece of caramel chocolate fudge cake and I was eating it fine and my wife stole a piece and told me that it was probably overdue for a changing... the cake was on the harder side and not moist at all.... The highlight of the supper was the haddock and that was for sure and I had french fries and my wife had mashed potatoes with her scallops.. Every table was taken on a Sunday night supper time meals and the parking lot was probably 90% full sew in my opinion that told us something that the restaurant must be really good but in this small community there's only a few restaurants to begin with.... We spent around $70 with our two meals...

Unfortunately we selected “Our Family Traditions” based on 4.5 star Google Rating. We were seated immediately and that’s where the service experience ended. To start we waited 20 minutes for a drink order without an explanation or apology? As we sat and observed, five (5) subsequent tables were seated, served drinks and placed their order ahead of us. As we marked 40 minutes to place our order our neighbouring tables who arrived after us had already received their food. We waited another twenty minutes to mark 1 hour of wait time without any acknowledgment as to how long we would further have to wait. No refills on our coffee and tea were offered. We decided to leave without ever receiving our food or any other proper consideration or decency.

  1. Was our biracial appearance the problem?
  2. was the establishment incompetent in their quest to run a expeditious restaurant?
  3. What would Gordon Ramsay have to say about the restauranteurs basics of “Our Family Traditions”, time for a relaunch new management team and...

Really disappointed in the service we received! After waiting 15 minutes to be seated with a restaurant nearly empty, then to have the table seated after us get waited on before us, not offered anything to drink when seated, sat there for another 15 minutes before our waitress had been told she forgot to take our order, the food did come out fast, not once we're we asked if the meal was ok, then had the waitress come to the table to tell us when we were ready to pay with receipt in hand - I interrupted at this point and had to ask what choices were available for dessert and to top it off, was having the debit machine put in front of us before we were finsihed eating dessert. We will not return. We had been hoping to enjoy our dining experience but found the place to be very disorganized with their service abilities. Id hate to see them have a very busy day.... Should've went to...

" It's worth the drive to Tignish" Great service, spacious dining room with modern but casual decor...now to the best part. The seafood chowder was amazing, ordered a small paid for a small but what came to the table was everyone else's idea of a large, every spoonful had a scallop, lobster, fish and a baby clam, yes there was potatoes but you had to hunt them down. It was rich with cream and tasted amazing. Lobster roll was loaded! Bun nicely toasted and was garnished beautifully.@ 13.95 it was a steal. The wife had open chicken sandwich and loved it. The gravy was amazing. Everything was outstanding and affordable a rare find. We will be back and anyone who visits us this is where we will take them for the PEI experience.

This place is a gem! We ordered many dishes all were 10/10. The seafood chowder was better than any we had on the island. The beer battered fish was super light and tasty. The crab cakes are best in the maritimes and oh that house mustard was to die for. All this and our server was welcoming and wonderful. Looking forward to visiting again soon!
