/////\\\ We recently visited Cabane à Sucre Chez Dany, and it was such a treat! Having moved to the USA, we’ve missed the charm and flavors of a traditional cabane à sucre, and this visit brought back so many great memories.
Highlights:
The location is fantastic, especially for tourists arriving by bus, which seems to be the main clientele. It’s well set up and welcoming. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and he was absolutely fantastic—friendly, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. The servers were wonderful, and the portions were generous. Everyone at our table enjoyed the meal, which made the experience even better. The little store was a fun addition, and we especially loved knowing that we met the man who makes the spoons—it added a personal touch to the visit.
Room for Improvement:
While the food was delicious overall, we were a bit disappointed by the dessert. After 10 years without visiting a cabane à sucre, we were hoping for more traditional treats like pouding chômeur or crêpes. It would have been the perfect way to end such a nostalgic meal.
Overall: We’re so happy we made the trip and love that you offer this experience for most of the year. Thank you for giving us the chance to enjoy one of our favorite meals and reconnect with our roots. Wishing you and your team all the very best in...
Read moreThis place was imposed on us as part of our tour meal plan with a cost of $40. We were promised a decent buffet. Food choices were extremely limited and of poor quality. If you do not eat pork, you get simple vegetarian dishes that are worth much less what you pay for! You get rice with sone frozen peas & carrots, canned baked beans, basic pasta salad and fried sliced potatoes!
The worst part is the way the waitress dealt with our table! We were 14 persons and she threw a bowl of each of the prior mentioned food items. Each one would get a tablespoon full of each food! We said we are 14 so bring more food to the table. Unpleasantly, she replied back that she will not get anything unless the bowl is completely empty. People were shy what to take or what to leave for the next person! When the pasta was finished and we asked for more, she brought back the bowl you see in the photo!! Remember we are 14 people at this table! I said, “do we have to beg for food here? We already paid for this meal.” There was no respect nor hospitality at this place!
This is by far the worst meal I ever had in my life for $40 Avoid this place at all costs! I would give it a zero star if it...
Read moreA full-course meal of traditional Québécois food served around the first thaw of Spring, but served year-round!!
Complete with freshly-cooked 'Oreille de Christ' (Bacon rinds) and split-pea soup to start. The second round being 'Tourtière' (seasoned ground meat pie), egg and bacon souffle, maple-syrup boiled cocktail wieners with slices of ham, fried potato slices and white-beans and lard in a maple sauce, followed by fried 'Gaufre' (deep fried fritter batter like a crispy pancake), all drowned in fresh house-made maple syrup!
Complimentary coffee, pickled beets, and buns then for dessert some fresh "tire" (maple taffy drizzled over snow).
I always leave incredibly satisfied, with a stomach full...
