My wife and I had a very wonderful time at Havilland shores! We wanted to go up north to get away from the city life for a few days and decided to book a room at Havilland Shores, which I am so glad we did! The restaurant was just opening the weekend we drove up which couldn’t of been better timing for our trip as we thought we would have to drive around and find place to eat. My wife and I live down south and have multiple areas to eat at and at times we are disappointed other times impressed, but nothing compares to how much effort and thought that the owners put into this establishment!!! I couldn’t wait until the next time we were hungry, the burgers were something else!! The white fish was some of the best fish I’ve ever had!!! And the fries…. Amazing!!!!! Best fries I’ve ever had in my life… Great fries that are cooked right tastes great and not soggy is hard to find until now… best fries ever!! So needless to say our food was covered and we didn’t have to drive anywhere, nor did we want to go anywhere else, couldn’t wait to try the next item on the menu. we stayed at the motel for 3 days and 2 nights and we felt like we were at a 5 star hotel with a feeling of home behind it. The owners welcomed us and did everything possible to make sure our stay was the best it could be. I can’t wait to go back and for a longer period of time next time so we can enjoy the comfort of being in a relaxing environment with the best food and amazing atmosphere. This place definitely takes your stress and frustrations and melts it away the minute you check in to your room! Will be back as soon as possible, thanks for such a great weekend we felt so relaxed once our trip...
Read moreI was just there Friday night for their legendary, classic, local Fish&Chips. Having visited the restaurant for the past 30+years, I was impressed with the new ownership completely.
I was on my own and sat at an outdoor table. My order was taken within 10min of arrival and delivered steaming hot 5min later. The fries were excellent- hand cut and not dry. The filet of white fish was HUGE, so fresh and juicy and seasoned perfectly. It was so big that the chef had to bend the tail under so that it wasn't hanging off of the platter. I never leave good on my plate but seriously couldn't eat everything.
As I slowly tried to pick away at the fries, I took the opportunity to check out other people's dinners near by- they had the same problem in not finishing everything. One table had a mom, dad, 6ish yo daughter and grandfather who ordered one icecream sundae for dessert. The owner, who happens to be one of the cooks personally took the time to deliver it in his cook's apron. It was massive and decorated beautifully- the table asked for spoons to help the little girl finish it which the cook brought out with a second mini sundae for the grandpa stating, 'I thought you needed one too.'
It these small touches of kindness, compassion and service that will continue the legend...
Read moreWe’ve visited McCauley’s a couple of times now, and there’s no denying the quality of the food—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The menu offers a nice variety of dishes, and everything we’ve tried has been excellent. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive when they’re at the table, which adds to the overall positive atmosphere.
That said, the service speed has consistently been a challenge. On both of our visits, we waited over an hour for our meals to arrive. While we understand that kitchens can get backed up during busy times, this level of delay really takes away from the overall dining experience.
If McCauley’s can address the long wait times, it would easily be one of our top go-to spots. Great food and great people—just hoping the service...
