Had to see what all the hype was about! It was super crowded - young families, serious hikers, cute seniors sipping coffee and walking the trails, dog walkers - I was quick to appreciate the surroundings and all that was offered. Good for them! Nice to see. The story behind this cool attraction is a good read.

Went in to order lunch whilst the hubby sat on a great Adirondack chair overlooking this great land with our dog. Quickly scanned the big menu on the wall, tried to "find" the line-up and opted to send in the husband with my order whilst I enjoyed the outdoors.

He came out with two clubhouse sandwiches. My frequent go to. How can you go wrong with a clubhouse, am I right??! Whether it's chicken or turkey, doesn't matter, it's usually a safe tasty lunch. He says, "I think this was on the kids' menu, but I'm not sure ... doesn't matter, the view is great ... let's eat."

Think they were having an issue with their toaster or they were throwing them threw quickly given the crowd as one slice was half over-toasted and the other half seemed to have had no heat whatsoever. I like good stiff toast to hold my clubhouse meat, lettuce and cheese therein, but this wasn't it. Often there are three slices of toast .. this had only two but that's ok too. First two bites the little pieces of meat began to fall out and it went downhill from there. The gristle in the meat stopped me from finishing. I've encountered this before and managed to eat the sandwich without the meat but not in this case. The fries were tasty but super salty. For dessert, chocolate chip cookies - very nice.

We enjoyed a little hike. The dog was in her glory with all this fresh air and new territory to sniff but even she didn't want the sandwich ...

Will go back. Plan to check out other trails and hit the bakery next time. Seems many seniors were just having coffee and a treat ... I think they're on to...

The Trail Hub is a hidden gem. It's not possible to overstate the goodness this brings us. A fantastic 'center'. The people...? Honestly, it's as though everyone nice came together to make sure I have an awesome visit. Need suggestions of what to do in a great area, ... just ask. The area literally is the hub of all the local trails. I was going to sell everything and move to Asheville, NC or Brevard, NC. Now, I don't have to do anything so drastic. I can either stay where I am in east Toronto or move closer to them. Either way I'm winning and they are going to see a lot of me. The trails around them are the Durham Forest Trails, the Glen Major / Walker Woods Trails, and others I've yet to explore (e.g., Trans Canada Trail). Oh, the gravel bike riding is also fantastic around their location. Yup, road riding too. Did I mention mountain and fat biking? Oh, ya, it's all there. Winter fun? Fat biking of course. Yup, access into all those trails too. Also, for those who like cross country skiing, well it seems we have some new friends! A few XC ski trails are apparently on the table. Do keep in mind their operation is starting up from zero. Yes, many individual trails are there already, but the work, effort, and money they are putting into this endeavour (endeavor, for our US friends) is significant and should be praised. The best way I can think of to help them right now is to visit their location, buy a drink and 5 cookies (... just because they have my favourites) and enjoy my rest on their patio. They have made Durham / Uxbridge a mountain/fat/gravel/road bike destination spot. Thank you to all who are making this happen. I cannot wait to see everything come to fruition. PS - did I mention the view? Ya, that's great too.

Also, Country Music night...

Just an update,

Kelly B Event Specialist/ Front of House Manager

Reached out to make it right. Thanks, Kelly, We will be back Perhaps it was an isolated event...

Warm Regards, Garry

No response from the management team. not surprised after our level of service.

Dear Nest Restaurant Team, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share some feedback regarding our dining experience last Thursday. I had read wonderful reviews about your restaurant and was excited to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday with a special dinner at Nest. While the appetizer was enjoyable, we encountered some issues with our main course. Both my girlfriend and I ordered steaks, but unfortunately, they were not cooked to our liking. I requested a medium steak, but it arrived well done and overcooked, and gray. My girlfriend’s rare steak was also overdone, though she chose not to send it back.

When I mentioned the issue to our waitress, I was informed that the steak was cooked to the correct temperature. I believe this could have been handled differently, as it felt a bit confrontational. The replacement steak I received was still not cooked correctly and lacked flavor. Given the wait time and the interaction with our waitress, we decided to leave early to salvage the rest of my girlfriend’s birthday evening. When our plates were cleared, it was evident that we had barely touched our food, which should have indicated that something was amiss.

I wanted to reach out because I have spent several years working in the hospitality industry and understand the importance of customer satisfaction. I hope this feedback is helpful and can contribute to improving future dining experiences at Nest. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

You just lost...

We just got married at the Trail Hub (micro-wedding) last week and WOW it was spectacular. My then fiancé and I just loved the venue from the moment we saw it, and knew it fit our Christmas in July theme perfectly. Kelly, the on-site wedding coordinator, was so helpful from our first prospective meeting right up until the end of our wedding night. She was available regularly to answer our questions and took the time to get to know us. During our wedding, Kelly was checking in with us, bringing us sparkling wine and napkins, and keeping us on track. It was so comforting to have someone keeping everything else in check. She also did an incredible job of decorating the venue. Finally, she was so pleasant to work with and very accommodating! As well, the chef prepared 3 delicious food stations and many tasty desserts for us, even incorporating our Christmas theme. The staff was so friendly and engaging, and quick to get us anything we needed. The wedding guests were so impressed with the staff. The venue itself is just gorgeous. Our ceremony took place outside overlooking the beautiful view, and our reception took place inside the lodge-like building. Guests were amazed how the place was reserved uniquely for our event and commented on how everywhere they looked, it was just our people celebrating. Additionally, the Bridal Suite is beautifully put together and great for both getting ready and taking pictures! We were thankful to have a locked space to store our stuff. We would highly recommend the Trail Hub as a wedding venue location! The space, staff, and food will not disappoint. -Natashia & Peter

I want to thank Anne Thornton for taking charge of our wedding experience she's the events manager at trailhub and a great addition to the team. She answered all of our questions in a timely manner and was accommodating with unique situations. We're also grateful for Marcos team, the food was done very well. We come from a family of chefs and Cooks and we didn't have one complaint about the food which is very rare. Jake the audio visual coordinator answered all of our DJ's questions so that he was ready for the day of the wedding. He also made great recommendations for picture spots. And he set up the lights in the fairy garden which it's perfect at sunset. Kirsten did very well with the guests to make sure that they were having a fun and safe time. She also helped with the setup of the wedding the night before without being asked which was a great help to us. We also want to send a big shout out to the cooks, bartenders, and waitresses the night of the wedding. They really made our family feel like royalty. We also got to meet the owners of the venue John and Rick. Not only did they invest in this great venue, they also have a community built in for mountain bikers for the Durham Region and Beyond. Once we get the professional photos from the photographers we will upload them. These are just the pictures from our phone. The picture of the bride is not at the venue, it was taken after the wedding, but her happiness shows after a great night. Much Love, Menelek and Isis
