This place is beyond amazing. It was my first time visiting Montreal and my partner and I wanted to do something special for our first night. I've always wanted to try a tasting menu but being a less than adventurous eater, I've always been too nervous. The price was right at this place and the added perk of being able to bring your own wine sold us! And wow, what an amazing experience it was! The serving staff was the nicest and most knowledgeable we had during our entire trip. The food was adventurous, but prepared very well! I was able to try everything and actually enjoyed some foods that I never thought I would. Overall, an absolutely amazing experience that my partner now wants to come back to every time we visit Montreal in the future. For reference, we chose the 7-course tasting menu and brought a bottle of red and white to pair with our courses. Our dinner lasted for 3.5 hours which sounds like a lot, but it was all about the whole experience. 10/10 for these guys! We will be back!
ALSO, add the truffle salsa to your meal....
Read moreAverage only, too much hype about this resto which unfortunately has two seatings at 5:30 and 8pm. The tasting discovery menu served with 5 dishes for the 5:30 sitting, the only availability. Most of the dishes are well presented. Ambiance is correct with proper table cloth and setting. Staff friendly and professional. Amuse bouche: so so Trio of appetizer : well presented but bland. The lobster ravioli is below standard... the lobster meat is like frozen defrosted lobster which has no lobster taste and the consistency of rubber. Too stingy with the sauce. The fish is very well cooked, meat is soft, skin is crispy. The lamb lacks of "lamb taste" and the quality of the lamb is more like a "choice cut" than a "prime" cut. The chocolate dessert is slightly above average. The chocolate biscuit looks like the cousin of "kitkat" while the saving grace is the chocolate ice cream which was excellent. All in...
Read moreWe had the good fortune to land a last-minute reservation at Tandem during a weekend trip to Montreal. Each course introduced a new layer of flavors and textures that built upon each other. The salmon mousse crostini opened our taste buds for the delectable and carefully crafted dishes that followed. I had the chef's foie gras, which melted in my mouth like butter, on a wafer thin cracker. The main course of beef tabs in a wine glaze with thyme was aromatic and rich in flavor. We ordered each of two desserts and were both reluctant to share with the other! My chocolate molten cake with ganache and salted butter caramel seemed to swirl the perfect balance of smoky chocolate and nutty caramel while avoiding any overwhelming sweetness. Chef Pascal Turgeon created an exquisite meal with, quite obviously, the finest of ingredients. We look forward to dining again at Tandem on our next visit...
