One star review is far too generous for Range as this was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had.
I was visiting from out of province and met up with an old friend to catch up and take her out for dinner for her birthday. We made the reservation more than 2 weeks before hand!
Everything was a miss from the start. The host was rude in seating us; we were placed at the end of a very large party like an afterthought and in their way. I had asked to move to another 2-person table just about a foot away and he said those were reserved, however for the 3+ hours we were there no one sat at any of those tables. I also asked to see if there would be an option to sit inside and he said he’d check which I said thanks in advance for checking and please let me know but he never came back to let me know either way.
Our server was incredibly rude and treated us like an after thought and like she was annoyed to have to severe us. She warned us in a very rude and unprofessional way that the Kitchen was “slammed with chits” and we’d better be ok waiting over 45 mins for dinner. Tried to order and an appetizer before our mains as we’d be waiting so long but she said that would take just as long to deter us. So no appetizers for us!
After serving the first drink and taking our dinner order we didn’t see her once for over and hour! We wanted more wine but she completely forgot about us. I had to go get us a water refill from the bar as she was completely MIA.
Food finally came out 1.5 hours later and our meals were terrible. We both had the swordfish with baby veg; it was way over cooked, cold and completely bland. Terrible and not worth the $40 for the entree even if it was good. We did see the sever once when the plates were dropped off and after she offered pepper she grabbed a shaker from another table and slammed it down on our table with her back turned to us. She may have muttered “here” as she threw it as us but couldn’t hear with her back turned! Typically when a restaurant offers pepper, they come back with a mill and grind it onto your meal for you.
After we ate our terrible meals, we had to of course ask the server for our bill because we never saw her again. When paying she casually said “sorry for all the things.”
My issue is twofold. If the restaurant is so busy or so understaffed in the kitchen, then do not seat so many people. We had made a reservation more than two weeks in advance. We were not walk-ins. If we had been a walk-in, I could understand the wait. This is absolutely unacceptable in the restaurants part in my opinion. I expect much better. At the very least when a restaurant is over slammed, they should be coming around and offering some sort of finger food like chips or bread or something to tie people over. And a good restaurant will comp free drinks. At the very least acknowledge the issue and make people comfortable with the wait.
Secondly was with the server who was busy with larger tables; these things happen but she did forget about us completely. She could have apologized or at least been cordial about it instead of being rude about it.
The worst experience ever, we left hungry and thirsty from 3.5 hours in 40 degree heat with little water.
Shame on you Range. We will not be coming back and told all of our fellow guests at nearby Sparkling Hill where we stayed to avoid...
Read moreI recently visited Predator Ridge restaurant in Vernon, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Here’s a detailed account of what went wrong during my visit:
Service Delays and Mishandling: We waited over an hour and a half for our food to arrive. This long wait was particularly frustrating because we had children with us, and their food didn’t come out with the rest of our order. We were told that the kids’ meals were billed as a separate table and that it would take another eight minutes. However, this additional wait turned into a frustrating 30 minutes.
Quality of Food: When our food finally arrived, the burgers were burnt. This was a huge letdown, especially after such a long wait. The kids were hungry and restless, and the poor quality of the food only added to our disappointment.
Poor Management Response: The manager’s response to our complaints was inadequate. We were offered only a 20% discount on the kids’ meals as compensation for the hassle, which felt like a token gesture rather than a genuine attempt to rectify the situation.
Unprofessional Waitstaff: The waiter provided terrible service throughout our visit. Despite informing him that we were celebrating a birthday, he failed to deliver the promised free dessert. Additionally, he did not bring straws for our drinks or side plates for our appetizers. His lack of attention to basic service details significantly detracted from our dining experience.
Inefficient Service for Large Parties: For a table of 12, there was only one food runner, causing all the food to come out one item at a time. This further prolonged our wait and made it difficult for everyone to enjoy their meals together.
Dishonesty and Poor Communication: The server lied to my face about there being a big party causing the delay, even though the restaurant was clearly emptying out as it got later in the afternoon. Additionally, the manager and staff failed to communicate with each other about what was happening, adding to the overall confusion and poor service.
Overall Experience: Overall, our visit to Predator Ridge restaurant took almost two hours, much of it spent waiting under less-than-ideal conditions. The combination of delayed service, poor food quality, unprofessional staff, and dishonesty made for an extremely disappointing evening.
In summary, I would not recommend Predator Ridge in Vernon based on this experience. The restaurant needs to improve its service and food quality significantly to meet even basic customer...
Read moreI decided to wear my limited edition Supreme/Northface jacket for the first time to dinner. Our server first dropped cutlery all over our table splashing food all over us. She appologizes and than comes back and knocks over a cup of coffee all over my friends cashmere sweater reaching for plates. I realized our server was horrible so decided to stand guard since I did not want to get spilled on. 10 minutes later she grabs a stack of plates from the table behind us and literally drops the whole stack of plates on the back of my chair. Whip cream, jam, eggs and other sorts of food got dumped and splashed all over my brand new $2,000 jacket, all over my shirt and shoes. I freaked out and called for a manager. He was pretty much useless I stood over him for 5 minutes while his main concern was getting the stains out of the carpet. finally the server gave me a dry towel ( when i asked for a hot moist towel). The food came off the jacket leaving oil stains everywhere. All the manager would do was offer to pay for the drycleaning which is unacceptable for such a limited and rare piece. (I talked to many boutique stores which carry limited pieces and all agree that is unacceptable since now the resale value would be less than 50% since it will clst 2k to replace. After cleaning the floor the manager comes back and offers only 50% off my food and nothing to everyone else even though they also got spilled on. I personally felt offended since all I had at the Christmas Buffet was a water and a couple eggs before all this happened and once it did happen I was so mad I couldn’t eat. Also this happened at 12pm. And we came for the Santa picture for my friends newborn daughter which was from 9-1. They sent Santa home at 12 and didn’t have make it since we had to deal with the servers mess. I would like to rate this review as a 0star rating but unfortunately 1 star is the lowest rating I can choose from. Such a high end place but low end service. I’ve been going here ever since they opened and I have not been back ever since. I now make the drive to Kelowna to Eldorado Sunday Brunch instead. Great food, service and the servers don’t dump food...
