DJ's Roadhouse — Restaurant in Wainfleet

Needed a place for dinner yesterday after spending some time at a nearby beach. Came across this gem after a quick google search. The exterior is not extraordinary. But don’t judge a book by its cover. When we entered we were immediately impressed with the ambience and the staff. It has a very cool nautical theme throughout and the booths and tables are gleaming with glossy, clean wood. The menu focuses a lot on seafood. Being right on the lake it makes perfect sense. I’m not a huge seafood fan, but when in Rome.. I ordered the blackened haddock and my friend had a fried chicken dish. My haddock was delicious and served with fries (they have other sides to choose from) and creamy coleslaw. Good portion and very tasty. I got to try the chicken and it was even better. It was lightly coated, not at all greasy and accompanied by an excellent sweet chilli sauce for dipping that had a tangy, medium spice. I washed it down with a local craft wheat beer that had blueberries. It was good and unique. Our server was friendly, efficient and attentive. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quantity and quality of food, some of which is likely caught locally. Update:It's been over a year since I did my last review here at DJs. I just couldn't let it go since we have been coming here for so many years. We decided to give them another go since I believe they may have been going thru some growing pains with the new owners. Im glad we did. Had a small family gathering here. The food was right back to were it use to be. Thank you! We've even did another take out and it was great!...🍻

Original Post: Well we're do I start. Been coming here since near the beginning over 30 years and multiple trips a year. This use to be our 'Go To' place and line ups to get In... The best in the buisness. Until a couple years ago under new ownership, the food has steadily declined, from Best to marginally OK. Had returned a few times to give them that one last chance to see if things would improve, but unfortunately it got worse. I'm not one for giving bad reviews, but whole hardly disappointed in the new direction this place has gone....Sorry!... Bring the original recipes back and your buisness will...

We've been enjoying DJ'S for 15+ years. Tonight was for the first time very dissapointing. My spouse and I came specifically for the Saturday Prime Rib, that is better than the Keg. Unfortunately our server told us that there were only 3 entrees remaining, all well done. I opted out and ordered the perch dinner, my spouse always orders med rare but agreed to well done. The prime rib arrived extremely dry and well past well done. My perch were the size of minnows, and sadly over cooked. We over heard the table beside us order two prime rib dinners both medium rare. There order arrived with one order medium and the other well done and the expressed their dissapointment. Our server was dishonest about the availability of the prime rib dinners to two different customers! The portions size has decreased substantially, and the overall quality of the food has declined substantially. Very disappointed and will NOT unfortunately be returning to our favorite...
