DJ's is nice but this is better. About a ten minute drive from Long Beach, I haven't had Greek food this good in a long time and I live in Toronto. I let them know early on I don't eat gluten so not to worry about the pita that comes with the Chicken Souvlaki dinner. So when they brought out their complimentary hummus and pita, they included four pieces of gluten free bread for me! Truly thoughtful and both the bread and hummus were great.
My wife and I shared a large greek salad to start, which they were kind enough to split into two plates. Salad was excellent. As mentioned I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki dinner, wife ordered the Grilled Calamari. Portion size was perfect, chef didn't go crazy on too many potatoes or rice; I think he gets both are starch so no need to over do it, just the right amount of each. Also came with some nice glazed carrots and broccoli.
Chicken was super tender, very good, and also the Tzatiki was the real deal, yogurt, garlic, dill.. No sour cream here, this guy knows what he's doing.
Unlike most Greek meals, nothing was too salty. Very healthy meal, very fresh and perfect in every way.
I saw people complain about portion size... this isn't IHOP, they actually serve quality food here, you want to stuff yourself, Niagara Falls is only 45mins away, go nuts.
People also mentioned the lack of liquor license, it's applied for and on the way along with a new patio. What a hidden gem this place is, clean, nice ambience and great music as well.
With 20% tip, came to $60 for the two of us which is an amazing price for food this good in literally the middle of a road full of cottages.
DJ's in Wainfleet may be the "go to" place in this area but for those looking for something other than deep fried fish, you need to try Garden Houzz. We will...
Read moreFirst time here we met our friend on the beautiful patio which offered a great ambiance. It was pleasant at 6 pm but got quite cool after 7:30. We loved it!! The lights were turned on by Hue the owner before it got too dark as we had a beautiful tree overhead. No birds or wasps to worry about. Quite a cute little hidden gem here. Our friend ordered the N.Y striploin with a creamy peppercorn sauce and a mound of mixed veggies. I tried a bite and it was phenomenal! However we had the seafood pasta and it appeared that they were short on scallops, shrimp and calamari and mussels. 3 scallops bigger than bay but not at all worthy of being a sea scallop. 2 calamari rings and 4 shrimp not big at all and 2 smaller ones and 2 mussels. It was hardly a good portion of pasta especially for the price. It was served with one little piece of garlic bread. Donât bother with the 4 pieces of crab cakes if you want to call them that. It was more like crab bites and tasted like they were compressed. That was a big disappointment. We were given complimentary hummus and pita. Hiba our server was out of this world, outstanding! Very inviting, friendly lady and very attentive! She and the ambiance were the best part of our experience at this fine establishment. The food did not meet our expectations overall but we did have a lovely evening. Thank you Hiba and Hue. It was a 45 min drive and not sure we will return because of the...
Read moreI ordered a meal for 3 on Thursday (plus appetizers) for pick up. When I entered the restaurant, it was empty, aside from 2 men who were sitting at a table playing a game together. I stood at the bar/cash register for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come greet me. When the gentlemen finished their game, one of them got up and came to cash me out. I was shocked that they worked there, as neither of them greeted me, asked me to hold on, told me my food would be out in a minute or said a simple hello upon entering/waiting when they clearly saw I was there to pick up food.
Onto the food - I wish I took pictures, because I have received better food and portions at the hospital. I paid $24 plus tax for fish and chips that looked like it came from a kids menu. Aside from the minuscule amount of fish in the dish, there was only a handful of fries (though, I will say the tartar sauce was at least tasty). Our second dish was the pickerel meal with veggies and again, I can't believe I paid $28 for a portion that was quite small and tasteless. The third meal was the seafood pasta, which again was way overpriced for what we got. I am shocked at the price, quality and quantity of the meals we received. And needless to say, will not be returning, which is too bad as I like to support local restaurants...
