Lauries Bistro — Restaurant in Watson Lake

Stopped by here on the way from Alaska. It’s the only coffee in the area. I ordered an americano with an extra shot and and iced latte. I should have known they weren’t made with espresso because they were done so quickly but I was excited. Got down the road to taste them and it was clear they poured watery coffee into more water and called it an Americano. The iced latte was obviously made with iced coffee and neither one was drinkable.

Why claim you sell espresso when you don’t feel like making actual espresso drinks? $21 wasted and had to drive hours to find...

Awesome gem, try Laurie’s poutine! It’s a classic version made with handcut fries, a generous pour of gravy, and curds that are perfectly melted. And at $6, the small size is a steal! We couldn’t help but come back to eat it for both breakfasts we spent in Watson Lake.

The coffee drinks are also impressive, the baked goods are ample, and the breakfast bun was scrumptious (Laurie happily replaced the bacon with extra egg and cheese, delighting the vegetarian in our party). We discovered this sweet spot while traveling through Watson Lake and stopped in for dinner. (It's located in the blue rec center building.) We had a burger (fresh, crisp lettuce and tomato) and rueben sandwich. Both were delicious and each came with yummy handcut fries. Topped dinner off with a caramel brownie which we shared given the generous size. We liked everything so much we returned for coffee and a blueberry pastry the following morning.
