I had written not the best but not the worst review four years ago and decided to try this place again because a long, long time ago this place used to be fantastic. I order pizza and wings one night, called about an hour and a half later and the gentleman taking the call told me that they somehow completely forgot my order, asked me to repeat it and for my address again and said the pizza and delivery would be free but I still had to pay for the wings and I figured sure why not because anywhere else I would phone at that point was going to take a while as well. Despite repeating myself many times on the phone because every time he read it back to me he got it wrong, my pizza came with missing toppings. The pizza itself was not bad, the crust is good, the cheese was just a little bit well done which is fine and dandy, and the toppings that were on there were decent, the sauce though is rather boring and nothing to write home about. Also unlike some of the pictures I've seen in the reviews, the toppings including the cheese was kind of skimpy. We had ordered the pugger wings or something like that it's called? They were tasty, they were big wings, and they were well prepared. I decided to try this place again and while the pizza did come the way I ordered it and not forgotten about this time, I still wasn't impressed. Again, mostly because of the sauce and this time the cheese was almost burnt in the toppings were even fewer. Got two types of wings and none of the seasoning seasoning was on the pugger wings, it was like they just sprinkled the bottom of the styrofoam container through the wings and then poured butter or grease or whatever over top of it. Couldn't taste any lemon this time and they were nowhere near as good as the first time. The medium wings tasted fine. So overall the food is not terrible, but still not amazing, inconsistent and super expensive. They are no longer what they once were. I might try a steak sub for old times sake and see if that is anywhere near what it used to be, and if so I'll knock the star rating up one maybe even two more of the service is really good and report on it as well, but something tells me it too won't live up to its...
Read more"For Pizza's Sake" is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise. Here's a more detailed review of my experience:
From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a cozy and intimate atmosphere. It's a charming corner pub, converted from a house, with just a few tables and bar seats. This makes it perfect for those who prefer a small, intimate setting for their dining or hangout experience.
Now, let's talk about the food. Their pizza, subs, and salads are simply exceptional. The quality of their ingredients is top-notch, and you can taste the difference. I can't emphasize enough how massive and delicious their subs are. The owner's recommendation, the Chicken Parmesan sub, was a true highlight. The flavors were out of this world, and the portions were generous.
I've had the pleasure of both dining in and getting takeout from this place. Both experiences were fantastic. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home.
The only minor drawback I noticed was their hours. Sometimes they change their opening hours, but these changes aren't always promptly updated on their website. It's a small inconvenience, but the food more than makes up for it.
What truly sets "For Pizza's Sake" apart is their commitment to quality. They roast their own meat for their creations, leaving nothing to chance when it comes to taste and freshness.
In summary, "For Pizza's Sake" is an absolute must-visit. If you're a fan of great pizza, hearty subs, or fresh salads, this place won't disappoint. It's a charming, intimate spot with friendly staff and food that's worth every bite. Without a doubt, it deserves a solid five-star...
Read moreAmbience and Awesome food. Okay I'm a native of Welland. I grew up here. So, when I want to recapture the spirit, I go to Ray's. For Pizza's Sake is the kind of place where you could easily wander in, order a brew, and soak up the atmosphere of a corner pub where everyone is a kindred spirit. Yes, it has limited parking. It was a house and basically, gutted, tabled and quartered. Yes, it's open concept. You will probably have to use your ninja skills and slide by a table or two while attempting to use the washroom. Yes, you can wear a ball cap, moose antlers, or whatever head gear you want. Ambience. The regular steak sub is actually half a French bread loaf. The meat is to die for. First, Ray fires up the ubiquitous wok where the steak, onions and peppers hang out with one another for a bit. You can actually smell, hear and see the wonderful aroma of your meal wafting throughout the dining area. I'm not sure but the amount of steak on the sandwich is over-the-top generous. You have to use two hands. I've seen people attempt this thing one-handed but it doesn't end well. There is no shame in using a knife and fork for this. Most people order a small because it's a quarter size of a bread loaf. If you've been working most of the day and it's kick-back time, I would suggest the regular size. If you are feeding a family, then go big and divide. Don't even get me started on the pizza, and the steak poutine. For Pizza's Sake is a real, hidden gem. Hard to find, worth the seek, but for those that do,...
