In case you don’t want to read everything.
Freshness: 5/5 Flavour: 4.5/5 Time: 4/5 (it took some time to make but I had a big order. What we got in the end, I’m more than happy to wait for again) Price???: 5/5 !!! It’s not your super market sushi, it’s quality, what you’re getting at the end is very worth it.
Will I recommend or come back? Hands down, YES! as long as you maintain your quality.
We ordered a platter/boat (chef’s special ferry), salmon sushi pizza, crunch dragon, and a lunch combo Special B… it was a good sized meal, def enough for 4-5 people.
Ok now for the more detailed review…
First thing first, I’ve been here a long time ago, it was some other AYCE sushi place which was meh… so is it the same? No, I’m very positive it’s not the same owner, cause the quality is far different.
Close up… cause the food was good I had to eat first and photo what’s left lol…. Had them for the first time today. Normally I don’t tip for take out, but today, I wish I did. Very fair prices for what you’re getting. It was during lunch, I can see (I assume) the owners working to make the food. They were working hard. Not enough hands to do everything, I think they weren’t expecting the size of my order for lunch. Plus they had other dine in customers too.
If you look closely at their rolls, it’s not filled with rice, but with everything else and a thin layer of rice. That’s the sign that you care about your customers and not just looking for a quick profit like other places with half the roll being just rice.
I would like to add that your rice has good flavour, it didn’t come out too strong cause oh how little the rice is. This is not a bad thing, a tiny, very tiny, little bit more rice would have been perfect and that’s why I gave you 4.5/5 for taste. The truth is, it’s the rice that’s the real flavour, fish, as long as it’s quality fresh is the same everywhere. What makes a sushi place tasty and good is actually the rice.
Another feedback, would be the time. Now I do want to first state, it was limited staff, I think I only saw 3, a server, sushi chef at the front and someone at the back for the cooked foods. My order wasn’t small and you had other customers dining in, so I completely understand the extra time. At first I was a tad annoyed for the wait, but after eating and seeing the food. You win… I’ll wait again next time if I must.
I’ll be back next time I come to Markham which could be awhile, but...
Read moreThe food is perfect. It's really good and it's fresh. The price is also not too crazy. Especially nowadays. The staff are also really kind and friendly. I love it except they really need to figure out how to not make customers wait too long.
We ordered ahead of time (at 1:45pm) because we have a really busy day that day and didn't want to wait forever if we ordered around dinner time. We ordered for 6:30pm pick up and they said no problem. We got there at 6:28pm and thought that we might have to wait a couple mins. I stayed in the car while my husband went in to pick up our order. At 7pm, I was getting really hangry and went into the restaurant to see what is going on. They told us thank you for waiting but didn't really apologize. I was ready to just get something else but my husband already paid for our order. After waiting some more, I asked if we could have some of our order that's ready. They happily gave it to us but didn't really offer for us to sit so we took a table and had some food while waiting for the rest. We finally got our food around 7:15pm so we raced home to finally have dinner.
I get it, sometimes things happen. But I think if you make your customers wait 45mins even after ordering ahead of time, there should be an offer of something complimentary as a gesture of goodwill or appreciation of patience. (or at least ask them to sit) I will come back in a few months to see if they have resolved this issue. If not, I unfortunately won't be...
Read moreOrdered a "Sashimi Dinner" for take out and was honestly surprised with the extremely high rating for this restaurant. I ordered an hour ahead and was were told the food would be ready to pickup at X:45, but it took until X:55 to receive it (mind you this is just for some nigiri, sashimi, and a single roll). The sushi rice was "stiff"/hard, not soft and fluffy. The salmon tasted a bit like fridge/cooler... that reminiscent flavour that is common in AYCE places. The roll had an off smoky flavour that I was not expecting, though I don't know what was causing it as it was just a plain salmon roll... maybe the sesame seeds? The dinner came with a side salad and a miso soup- the salad was fine, but the miso soup was very basic/bland. Just miso in broth, no seaweed or tofu pieces and no real depth of flavour. Honestly I wouldn't have minded all of this as much if the restaurant wasn't charging premium prices . You can go to a nicer, upscale sushi restaurant in Niagara Falls or St. Catharines and pay equal (or even slightly less) than what is being charged here. I feel they are just taking advantage of there being no 'real' sushi restaurant competition in Welland and assuming customers will be happy to take a slight cut in quality without a subsequent cut in price. The waitress who was getting our order ready was LOVELY, however! Super nice...
