Neighbours Pub — Restaurant in West Kelowna

Extremely disappointing experience tonight. Sat down and waited a good 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, all at the same time two waitresses kept walking by our table. Finally, one stopped and dropped off two menus and walked away. Another 10 minutes passes and finally waitress stops and asks if we would like a drink. Ordered drinks and meals. Special was 2 piece fish and chips, so I asked the price for an extra piece of fish making it 3 pieces. Waitress states: $3-4.00 extra. All good, extra piece ordered. Throughout this whole time our drinks sat on top of the bar for at least another 10 minutes before we got them. Two waitresses working. Food came in decent amount of time. My wife's meal - Big Crunch burger - was decent, fries hot and well cooked. My meal - fish was the soggiest, greasiest fish I have ever had. Picking up the first piece of fish, my fingertips literally dripped and were covered in oil. Placing a piece of fish on a napkin immediately turned the napkin into a soggy mess covered in greasy, yellow, stale old oil. When I brought this to the attention of our waitress, Amanda, she just laughed and said "well, everyone else loves our fish". Not the answer that should have come out of her mouth. Perhaps, something helpful like, "can I get you a new order, is there something I can do for you", etc. Nope, just laughed and walked away. Would not make eye contact after that every time she walked by our table. Sad.... My fries were great btw. Highlight of the meal. My understanding is this pub is owned by the same owner(s) as the Barley Mill Pub in Penticton. I would strongly recommend that the wait staff here in West Kelowna take a lesson from the service provided at the Barley Mill and the kitchen staff do the same. Menus are similar, but there is absolutely no comparison when it comes to the food quality and what I can't even call the "service" received here in West Kelowna. To top it off, after receiving our bill, I was charged $8.00 for the extra piece of fish, not the $3-4.00 quoted by our waitress Amanda. She balked when questioned about the higher charge and asked what we wanted her to do about this. At this point, enough was enough, we paid our bill and left. Will never recommend this pub to family...

Honestly this was my second time going to the restaurant. The first time was a little bit better, but not by much, so this time around was me seeing if maybe the first time was just one of those off days. Unfortunately, it was not..

Me and my friend ordered the fish and chips. I subbed my fries for onion rings. The fish came back soggy and flavourless, and my onion rings were not even cooked. The onion on the inside was still a little crunchy and the outside wasn’t even fried, still soft and battery. I politely told the waiter about this issue and he offered to make me new ones, but I didn’t feel comfortable getting anything more as I had lost my appetite considering everything was unappetizing.

He did not offer to take it off the bill which was frustrating as typical most restaurants would. So, I ended up having to pay for something I didn’t even eat. Also the dips had a weird taste to them. My friend agreed that the food was incredibly disappointing, and a waste of money as neither of us ate much of anything.

Not to mention the table wasn’t cleaned when we arrived and the seat was covered in something sticky. I had to ask for a cloth to clean the table myself.

I won’t be going back and I definitely don’t...

We went to Neighbor's tonight before going to see a movie. we arrived at 5pm there were 4 tables seated inside. After placing our drink order it arrived 10 minutes later. We immediately ordered a flatbread and 4 tacos (the special). Our drinks emptied and the waitress brought us a second round. Then we waited, and waited, and our drinks were empty. They stayed empty for about 10 minutes before we were asked if we wanted another round. At that point we declined drinks and asked about our food, as it had been nearly 40 minutes. The waitress went in the back to check on our food and said it was next up and that EVERYONE ordered at once! Again there were 4 tables with people at them when we sat down. Finally after waiting a total of 50 minutes for our food it arrived. We immediately grabbed the bill, because we now had to rush through or meal to make our show.
