The newly renovated pub ChetWicks is a must try before leaving the island. ChetWicks is a great atmosphere for lunch/dinner or even to lounge and have a drink. With great staff who are so welcoming. You really feel like your home at your local pub. Located next to the Gift shop, store/NSLC, gas pump and Brier Island whale watching office the convenience of location is perfect. We stayed the weekend on Freeport and travelled over the quick ferry ride for supper both nights. I had the Garlic Burger which is a must try. Clarke makes his own homemade garlic aioli from fresh garlic and it’s incredible. I also had the grilled chicken burger which is an entire chicken breast so make sure you go hungry! For sides both nights I had fries. Now I’m not a fry fan but ChetWicks fries were the perfect mix of crispy and salty. Great enough for me to have them both nights. If you’re not overly hungry they have lots of appetizers to choose from too. If you’re going for an alcoholic beverage I recommend the Grizzly! Check out ChetWicks Facebook page for fun events they host as well. We lucked out and went during there 90s theme dance party and had a fantastic time dancing the night away! Thank you Clarke and Kristen!

MUST VISIT - You know how a lot of people say.. "Oh, this place has the best fish and chips... or that place is the best, you gotta go there" ect.. it's hard to mess up fish and chips, but it's also hard to make it perfect. This chef is checking all the boxes. It's perfect... oil temperature, perfect. Batter flavor, perfect. Batter consistency is perfect. Cook time, perfect. Homemade coleslaw, amazing. This cooking is worth the drive on its own. The ONLY thing I could find wrong was I had take out, and the vinigar from the slaw soaked through the paper cup and leaked out into the fries. It's very minor, but just one thing that maybe the owner doesn't know about and would be an easy fix switching to plastic for the slaw. Overall, 110% are coming back and a great reason to miss the returning ferry. 5 stars, a must visit.

Stopped in here after our whale watching tour and this was a very hopping place. It was full of locals and had good music. We sat down next to a woman and gentleman, George AKA. Bumpy! All the locals and staff were extremely friendly and loved to talk about their town and their family and history. Now let's talk about the food! Everything was absolutely incredible. The fish and chips were outstanding, not too heavily battered and the fish was cooked perfectly. The tartar sauce was incredible and the owner told me they make it from scratch everyday, you can tell a lot of their food and ingredients are homade and fresh! If you are on, or near, briar island I highly recommend this place!

Amazing food ! Had the brushetta and it was simply to die for !! Heavy on the basil and heavy on the cheese ! No one ever puts enough cheese on and I normally asked for extra cheese. Thank goodness I forgot to order extra cheese because I would have never been able to lift it ! Scrumptious and yummy !!!! Had the ceasar salad which was also delicious ! If I could find only one thing missing it would be that the ceasar dressing came on the side. Apparently that's the way it's normally ordered here. So when you place your order for it, ensure you ask for it tossed in. My friend had the fish tacos with fries and was surprised when it was served in a soft shell taco. She said it was amazing ! I tried one of her fries and it was perfectly crunchy and flavorful. If I could give this place 10 stars, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. I told the staff when we left that we would become regulars ! Must, must, must eat here if you're on...

Our experience was not what we expected after reading reviews. We took our seats and placed our orders (2 adults and 2 children). Our food was delivered relatively quickly but that was the last we saw of our server. She did not return to check on us or refill our waters and we had to dress to leave before she came and told us she would get the cheque. Instead of getting the cheque, she just grabbed the debit machine and handed it to my husband. I had to ask for a copy to see what we were being charged and to confirm it was correct. She replied to every "thank you" with "ok".

The food was just okay. The fish tacos weren't seasoned well. The fries are definitely personal preference but I do not like battered fries so these were a no for the entire family.

Based on other reviews, we expected a better experience. The music was sad country ballads and it brought the mood down. Maybe that's why the server was...
