I worked here about 13/14 years ago when this place first opened. I was one of the counter girls. I watched and learned how most of the menu was made over my 4 years there. I’ve continued to order from here all this time.
It’s been a few months and I decided to make an order with my family for dinner. It was not what we were expecting. I understand changes in products due to cost but the overall food quality was terrible. I’m sorry to say it, we were extremely disappointed. I tried to salvage some of the food we ordered but unfortunately this meal will be going to compost.
Asked for plain white rice with mild curry on the side, received veggie fried curry rice (that’s fine) other than the fact it was very very dry, flavourless and just very spicy. Like hot air. The rangoons have changed (this could be the wrap paper though or fry oil) the fried veggie dumplings did have more veg in them (my one bonus) but they were not fried enough (chewy), the plain noodles were not plain, loaded in veggies.. the garlic dipping sauce for the dumplings and pancakes was essentially just soy sauce (check if you’re adding enough sugar??)
I see some other reviews and they reflect the same thing - quality of this beloved place has gone way down. I hope there’s room for improvement to get it back...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant based on some positive reviews. We ordered the dinner for two which included chicken balls, chicken chop suey and pork fried rice. The chicken balls were very meaty but the sweet and sour sauce turned my tongue orange. The chicken suey was a little overcooked as the bean sprouts were really limp. I like my bean sprout to be crisp. We changed the chicken fried rice to pork fried rice and it was ok. We also ordered the bbq spare ribs long. This is where our meal went downhill. We paid $17.99 for 5 ribs which had very little meat on them..but the worse thing was they were burnt. They were charred black and smothered in sauce to mask it. Very disappointing. If we lived closer we would have returned them. We were visiting up there by their restaurant and actually live 15 minutes away. As a chef, you need to take note that the ribs were served burnt They were not edible caz you could taste the burn. They should have never left the restaurant. Read moreThere food is garbanzo beans. I orderd general tao, with white rice, and sweet and sour chicken, and it was terrible. I've been eating here for 8 years now and there food sucks now. The food i got tasted plain and it also smelt. I remeber getting general tao and it smelt great and had lots of sauce on it, however this one did not. I feel pity to give them this rating but the games the game. I only ate the rice and the sweet and sour chicken but I later threw away the general tao because it was awful. What a waste of 13 dollars. IM MAD. I'd rather use my 13 dollars to by a broken barbie off kijiji than ever eatting that goofy food ever again. The general tao chicken could possibly be a mystery meat at this point because that ish was terrible. Maybe they cooked up a rat or something, fuk it.
