This was our first time visiting Bonnie Lou's on a Saturday for lunch. This is a popular restaurant and we were lucky to get a table; reservations are definitely recommended.

Parking at the rear of the restaurant is free and limited.

This is a truly Mennonite style restaurant; has a very comfortable homie feeling. It has an old world feel and the building looks like it may have been a general store back in the pioneer days.

We ordered the Roast Beef special. For $18.95 you got roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, coleslaw and your choice of dessert. It was a great value and everything tasted very good. This was as close to a home-cooked meal as you could find. The dessert, we had, a carrot cake and apple pie, were absolutely delicious! The size of these desserts were also impressive as most other restaurants don't give the size of dessert.

Service was efficient and friendly. Definitely...

This restaurant is off the beaten path in Floridale, North of Elmira. The setting is quaint, accross from a park. The decor is rustic and warm, as if you walked into a roadhouse 100 years ago. The service is fast and friendly by Mennonite ladies. Overall you get the impression of an old style Mennonite establishment. Unfortunately the food is not very good. The sandwiches are lackluster with no flavor and do not look appetizing. The baked goods are very basic, and also not flavourful. We had a tuna melt sandwich and a cinnamon roll. The tuna was in a sweet mixture, which did not taste right, the cheese, was a mild farmers cheese, and they were on a soggy plain white bun, with no texture or flavour. The cinnamon bun also was made with white doughy pastry with no flavour. The owners need to visit Anna May's or the Schmidtsville restaurant in Wellesley, to get an Idea of the flavour of home...

Wow. I run charter bus company. Our drivers and myself eat here when we are in the area. I was just parked in their parking lot with a bus, waiting for lunch time to eat. I was asked to leave by a women claiming to be the owner. Her reasoning was that I was parked across the way that smaller vehicles normally park. ( I am in a bus after all. ) Although there were open parking spaces in the parking lot, apparently my parking the " wrong way" was a good enough reason to send a customer down the road. As a small business owner, customer service is top of the list and I am quite insulted. Unfortunately our charter buses will no longer be stopping there and our drivers will no longer be patronizing this business. Apparently bus companies, their drivers and the customers we bring to the area are not welcome at this...

We came to visit St. Jacob Farmer's Market and took a Tractor tour. The tour leader recommended this fantastic family-owned restaurant to us. Run by Mennonites, the restaurant serves delicious food. We ordered from the dinner menu, where we could choose between garlic chicken or roasted beef with mashed potatoes, coleslaw salad, and a dessert of our choice. I picked the roasted beef, which reminded me of a traditional Christmas meal. I also tried their homemade iced tea, which was delightful. Definitely recommended!

Finally, I had the chance to stop in with my partner after being recommended it by family, and it was well worth the stop! I got the pulled pork special (I already ate half the salad before taking the photo), and it was so delicious. The service was kind and quick, and the atmosphere was so lively and homey. Also, there were lots of desserts on display that looked delicious, though I only got the pecan buttertart, which was tasty. I'm looking forward to going again!
